Auschwitz was at the end of a long process. It did not start from gas chambers.

This hatred was gradually developed by humans. From ideas, words, stereotypes & prejudice through legal exclusion, dehumanization & escalating violence... to systematic and industrial murder.

Auschwitz took time.

The American president turns up the hard talk on Russia, and suddenly Putin is kind as a sheep. Shocker. Who would have thought after all this talk about nuclear Armageddon?
Putin responded to Trump’s statements with an eight-minute speech lavishing praise on the American president, describing him as intelligent and pragmatic, and stating that he would not impose sanctions on Russia because it would harm the American economy.

Its finally dawning on people in Europe (it should have years ago) that a huge amount of their security has been outsourced to the USA and based on the assumption that the USA would never change.
Now that this is shown to be a mistake, they dont know how to react.

Whatever the calamities of climate change, they will pale against the calamities the evil of an undefeated Russian Imperialism will bring, at least for the children of Europe. Unfortunately for the children of Europe, their politicians and elders appear to be uninterested in solving either.

I think the time has come for more active measures in response to the Russian unconventional campaign against NATO.

My question would be whether Western leaders would have the stomach for it, as this would involve taking some risks, including to alliance cohesion.
Question: should individual NATO allies decide that Russia’s hybrid campaign merits a response broadly in the same currency - setting aside if that’s prudent or not - what are the Russian targets that are vulnerable and could be disrupted in similarly limited fashion?

It is deeply unproductive to peace that large parts of the western MSM continue to parrot the claims of Russian military and economic strength.

The rotten core of the Russian economy is starting to show through cracks and highlighting it is important for future negotiations.

Scholz goes from being a liability to being downright dangerous. He must be ousted in February.
This is pretty bad. Disagree all you want with your political opponent but this is very close to writing “with the other guy you get nuclear war” and that’s just unacceptable (and of course plays in Putin’s hands).

"In practice, the Biden administration has treated the Ukraine conflict like a crisis to be managed, not a war to be won. The administration doesn’t seem to understand that Russia can be beaten."
Latest in @TheAtlantic. I never wanted to write. The Biden Administration was given an unexpected opportunity to make the world a safer, more democratic place after the Russian full scale invasion of Ukraine. However they failed and made the world more dangerous. www.theatlantic.com/ideas/archiv...
