As someone who spends a lot time thinking about the values I want to teach my kid (besides PLEASE DON’T EAT DIRT), the thing I keep coming back to is this: I want him to believe that the strongest, bravest thing he can do is give a shit about other people—especially ones who aren’t like him at all.

Andrew Cuomo, in addition to being a serial sexual harasser, knowingly sent people with Covid into old folks homes, leading to a massive rate of infection and death for the elderly.

Read and share the @propublica.org story about how Andrew Cuomo killed your elders.
“Fire Through Dry Grass”: Andrew Cuomo Saw COVID-19’s Threat to Nursing Homes. Then He Risked Adding to It.
A nursing home in Troy, New York, followed the governor’s order to accept patients being treated for COVID-19. Six weeks later, 18 residents were dead of the disease.

Part of the lesson here is that Trumpists, like many bullies, don’t handle it well if you stand up to them rather than caving. If Trump or Vance or their supporters had any character this petulant display and Zelenskyy’s defiance would be humiliating to them.

None of us can be sure what will “work.” You try multiple things and find your way in. Read some histories of the Civil Rights Movement by those who participated. They were never “sure” of what would work. Some campaigns fizzled out. But persistence, creativity, determination, and focus were key.

I firmly believe @petebuttigieg.bsky.social should lead a daily press conference. We are in desperate need of simple, unified messaging
Waging a procedural war and an information war will at least delay — and possibly prevent — an actual war. I don't get why Democratic leaders don't see the necessity here.
If Democrats don't have the stomach to actually wage the procedural war that's fully within their power, they must at the very bare minimum wage the information war that's both right in front of them and extremely ripe with targets.

Not sure why this dude thinks not sleeping, working “day & night” in the office is a flex when in fact it reflects lack of discipline, unsustainable work plans and sacrifice of attention to detail. Probably also drug use, since the human body and especially brain needs sleep to operate effectively.
Elon says he's in hiding because he is getting death threats over DOGE, DOGE plans to cut $2 trillion (??) Says he is working day and night and sleeping on couch, thinks DOGE work will take four months and is speaking to Trump "incessantly."

Most of us have lost or been forced out of a job at some point

All of us have heard school /parental /church-etc /motivational lectures on "your job shouldn't define you" or "higher purpose."

But these GOP Sens willing to do *anything* to cling to a job

JFK wrote 'Profiles in Courage.' Not now.
You’ll be shocked - shocked! - to hear that Susan Collins has decided to vote to confirm Tulsi Gabbard as DNI.

One thing for Senate Democrats to do is announce they will use every tool at their disposal to block Bondi’s nomination until DOJ appoints a special counsel (ideally with beefed up firing protections) to investigate the widely reported crimes committed this week by Musk and his band of DOGE goons.

You may not like it, but Leah's right. There's a reason the Prodigal Son is a parable in almost every culture. when someone experiencing cognitive dissonance comes to you, you have two choices: embrace them, and win them over forever; or reject them, ensuring they never again question their beliefs.

Trump is correct- it’s time to celebrate our Founders. Let’s read their words - in classrooms, in town squares, online, and in print. Let’s re-learn what they meant when they wrote about consent, arbitrary government, tyranny, and civic virtue. Let’s overwhelm Trump with our love for the Founders.

Detachment helps.

The most effective way to detach is to end contact altogether. While we can limit our exposure to Trump, we don’t have that option.

We can, however, practice not being emotionally reactive and observing instead—“he’s doing that thing he does again”—and then act rather than react.
