A Prayer for Christmas Eve:

O Lord, you who assumed flesh and bone, make your love incarnate in us, we pray, so that we may become wholly flesh of your flesh and bone of your bone in all that we do and say this day and forever more. Amen.

For the Landrys, life since their daughter Lainey and 26 other girls died in the floods at Camp Mystic nearly six months ago has been a succession of choices: What to do with her bedroom, her siblings’ grief and should they go to camp next summer?
For Camp Mystic families, empty bedrooms and fraught holiday memories
They lost daughters in the historic Texas floods and are balancing mourning with the desire to preserve the childhood of their surviving children.

I love how often angels (terrifying, dazzlingly bright, non-human beings) show up in Scripture and the first thing they say is, “Do not fear.”

It’s less command than assurance. God’s message to us all.

“I know things look scary right now, but you do not have to be afraid.”

These teens are trying to save go-go. Can the music save them, too?
