When my family and 120,000 other Japanese American were sent to prison camps in WWII, the government only allowed propaganda photos of things like schools and baseball games to be published. A school in a prison is evidence of evil, none of these people, especially children, should be imprisoned
ICE is sending these kids to the concentration camp in Dilley, Texas, where they're preparing to have so many children that they're opening a new school there. They're actively hiring teachers now. I reported on it last month. We have to get people out of there.

Good news, kind of: www.usatoday.com/story/news/n...

(I mean, the minors shouldn't have been taken in the first place and God knows what's happening to the people that are still there, but this is something at least.)
ICE is freeing some detained families despite vowing 'zero releases': Exclusive
The Trump administration has promised to arrest and deport millions. Now ICE is releasing detained families.

“unassuming diplomat with a penchant for bureaucracy saves 48,000 lives through signing his name and tricking Parliament into his scheme” is an incredible thing that, by definition, is still possible today, if our politicos had the will
The US granted visas to Jews but only allowed 30,000 in from Germany a year. You had to wait for your number to come up.

Meet Robert Smallbones. An unassuming British diplomat who 'hacked' this system so effectively (saving 48 THOUSAND Jews) the UK government kept his scheme secret for decades /1 🧵

a few random thoughts for the day:
- Asian Americans and Latinos have always occupied a weird but similar space in the racial politics in this country and we should hang out with each other more
- I appreciate the unironic resurgence of love for places like Chili's
- We should listen to more jazz

In my 20s I started praying, as long as I am of more service to the kingdom of God as an unmarried person than a married one, please keep me single. And thus far the answer has been "okay, sure."

it is by grace you have been saved through faith, and not by being as unproblematic as possible, for it is God who works in you to care about actually important things and act on them, to his good pleasure

If you live in the Cities, an easy way to help immigrant families in hiding is: laundry! Laundromats are ICE magnets, so people without washers need help.

The People’s Laundry will drop off laundry to your door to wash and dry and pick up a few days later:

My parents benefited from the second, purely based on chance & timing.

That is no way to treat folks who have voted with their feet, leaving behind their native lands to improve their lives & the U.S.

When this dark period is over, we need to create a fair & just immigration system.
There are only three possible outcomes for undocumented immigrants in this country: mass deportation, amnesty, or legal limbo (i.e., status quo for last 40 years). The first causes violence in communities and harassment of citizens. The third quietly ruins people's lives, as opportunities pass them.

A Black man named Keith Porter was shot and killed by an ICE officer on New Year’s Eve.

Marimar Martinez was shot five times by an ICE officer in Chicago who went on to brag about leaving seven holes in her body.

This is not new but it is expanding.
Your reminder that what happened to Renee Nicole Good is something that happens regularly in America. This is not new, but it is an expanded version of militarized people targeting Black people in particular.

From ICE detention to murder with impunity, we've been doing it. Now it's broadened.

She was killed by the government for holding them to account.
