The BBC have decided to censor this year's Reith Lecture which was about, in part, media companies submitting to authoritarian regimes.
I wish I didn’t have to share this. But the BBC has decided to censor my first Reith Lecture.

They deleted the line in which I describe Donald Trump as “the most openly corrupt president in American history.” /1

BREAKING: Mass 'terror' arrests outside the Home Office of protestors holding signs which say "I oppose genocide. I support Palestine Action".

The government is guilty of protecting a foreign genocidal regime, over the lives of Palestinians and our rights.

Help save Modern Languages at UoN!
Colleagues and UCU members from UoN's Department of Modern Languages have put together this wonderful guide on supporting their programmes. A lot of what they suggest is also helpful in challenging the 48 courses at risk across the university

Those of you who know my work know that misgendering on death certificates has been a preoccupation of mine for several years now. I have been really concerned to hear that even though we now have specific guidance on the issue, there are some Coroners who have not been following it.
The tendency of Coroners to ignore guidance from the Chief Coroner, the reality of trans existence, and the wishes of bereaved parents, and express their own views in the death certificate, is both contemptible and unlawful.

We have a legal team ready to go; we will challenge it in the High Court.

Gemini 3 is definitely something new as it has just used the word "dogfooding" - a reference to "eat your own dog food" where companies use their own product.

It illustrates a more human / informal approach to language than previous models.
Weird Spelling Mistake By AI.

I'm testing out the new Gemini 3 model and I've encountered something which I've never seen before - a spelling mistake.

It used "sandox" instead of "sandbox".

This suggests Gemini is using a very different approach to tokens and training than previous models.

So much stuff around healthcare is like this. Notts cops have, I believe, 2 helicopters paid for from Council Tax. Notts Air Ambulance is a charity. Because stolen cars are more important than critical patients.
Its a scandal that hospices have to rely on charity for most of their funding. What we need is a publicly funded & fully resourced hospice system within the NHS.

My most radically woke opinion is that everyone has human rights.
"my least woke opinion is---"

That's enough. We've had enough people indulging in the "thrill of a little conservatism", as a treat. Of considering reactionary thought to be a salacious and taboo in a world descending into reactionary mania.

Give me your MOST woke opinions. We're bringing it back.
