I take photos of people (amongst other things)

#Nottingham
Over 50 police officers were involved in arresting peaceful protesters in a carefully controlled operation. Before arrest, each protester was warned and given the opportunity to walk away.

All but one of the protesters refused to comply with the police.

In Nottingham, City of Rebels (at least according to the tourist board), police arrest over 20 people for holding up signs saying "I support Palestinian Action".

The arrests were part of protests taking place in 10 cities organised by @defendourjuries.bsky.social

We were literally putting on our shoes for a birthday trip into Derbyshire when this arrived by special delivery.

Sofa day it is then.

And while we are on the subject of the far-right...

A group of local far-right racists (some of whom were in Lincoln last night) are having an anti-migrant remembrance day "close the migrant hotels" party.

Because nothing honours the fallen more than dancing and hurling abuse at a hotel.

Last night I was covering a violent bunch of racists who call themselves UKIP.

Among them were people waving "Adult Human Female" flags.

Below are people promoting the same "Adult Human Female" bullshit on Beeston High Road.

Treat these transphobes as the far-right hate group they really are.

The report notes that the biggest problem was AI failing to provide sources or the use of inaccurate sources. However the prompts used in the study did not ask for the AI to provide sources.

Neither is the number of inaccurate sources (a far more serious problem) separated from merely missing.

The study does provide some data but does not explain how it reached the 45% number from the results provided.

I'm not questioning the accuracy of the 45% claim but one of the key findings of the research is about AI failing to provide context and sources.

Which highlights another issue...

The BBC report is based on this report:

www.bbc.co.uk/mediacentre/...

Which is the original source of the data and features the 45% claim in its key findings.

However when we dig into the methodology and details of the questions asked, things get murky...

How Accurate is this BBC News Report about the Accuracy of AI News Reports?

Out of curiosity I decided to check that "45%" figure mentioned below and which features in the headline of the BBC report.

Now maybe I'm being dumb, but that 45% number sort of appears from nowhere.

To explain...

I could write 10,000 words on this shirts semiotics and how the far-right measures patriotism by quantity not quality.

Photo from Lincoln's small "Unite The Right" demo and the much larger counter-protest.

A solicitor and the shadow justice minister claiming people fighting in the street is part of the "Rhythm of British life".

It's a sentence that would be absurd even 12 months ago.

... prevent this sort of tragedy. Of course, a lump of metal travelling at 600mph carries a lot of punch.

But, by design they should be stopped by a human body.

Or stout, exterior fire doors.

So questions:

How many shots did the police fire?
What were they aiming at?
How many hit their target?
October 3, 2025 at 12:56 PM
Keep an eye on the police story about the victims shot by the firearm officers.

They are saying the victims were behind a door when they were hit by police gunfire. This is a danger police train for and they are often issued with relatively low powered weapons to ...

Despite the relentless anti-migrant and anti-trans rhetoric, plus support for a genocide...

Reform voters are not switching to Labour and Labour voters are still switching to Reform.

Yesterday a "patriot" who is "protecting women & children" followed and harassed women leaving a silent protest.

The women-only protest was part of a series of protests & counter protests outside a hotel in Long Eaton.

How Fascism Works (Part 2957)

A far-right influencer wants to recruit gangs of people to hang around schools to "protect the children".

Because nothing bad can happen when gangs of men are hanging around schools harassing anyone they don't like.

Why AI will not be stealing journalists jobs any time soon - Exhibit A
September 24, 2025 at 12:53 PM
While I'm pretty critical of Nottinghamshire Live's coverage of protest politics, which tends to be very lightweight, in the last year or so they have really stepped up to the plate on journalistic principles.

Case in point: Nottingham Reform banning journalists.
