Plain and simple, if we want to maintain and foster affinity groups, we’re going to have to do so outside of the purview of the government.

Gonna dissent here: Blocklists are a hazard here on Bluesky. People create them, give them names you'd think you agree with, then add people to sucker you into blocking them. Don't use blocklists. Curate your blocks, and enjoy them properly :)

For those who don't understand why saying "you're so well spoken/articulate" to a Black person is galling to us, it's the implication of surprise.

I grew up with being told this CONSTANTLY as a child in the South from white people and I’m convinced it gave me a complex that I’ve only gotten over as an learned adult
The amount of times someone in power who was white that told me "You're so well spoken." has left scars on my back.
