25 years ago today, SCOTUS elected George W Bush president of the United States by blocking completion of a voting canvass in Florida. A subsequent canvass by the Associated Press showed that Bush's rival, Al Gore, had won the race in Florida—and thus the contest for the presidency—by 700 votes.

My hottest take is that letting cops park in red zones for mundane errands and coffee breaks; I think “you can break the law at your discretion as a job perk” is the small domino that ends in the large domino of “shooting protesters in the face with rubber bullets”
It must be wild to get to abuse the public then pay for it with the public's money

We urge you to shop at the Discount Mall and other businesses on 26th, ride the holiday trolley, have dinner and be in community with our beloved neighbors who help make Chicago strong. 🎄❤️🎄

On a day with a lot of good political news, this is the best. This man has been to hell and back all for the entertainment of racists. I hope he is treated like royalty the rest of his life.

Yes, I'm taking the first step towards Noem's impeachment.

I demand a full investigation into Secretary Noem's unlawful actions and unethical behavior. The people will have accountability.

Making this threat was an incredibly stupid thing to do. If he follows through now, he risks a revolt inside his own party over the fact that he's attacking a red state. If he doesn't follow through, he's announcing to the world that he's a paper tiger.

Indiana’s Senate has voted AGAINST the GOP gerrymander that’d have locked in a 9-0 map.

This keeps the 7-2 map in place, saving two Democratic seats heading into 2026.

The vote failed big, 19/31.

The MAJORITY of the GOP senators opposed it!

A huge night for Democrats:

—They flip Miami's mayorship.
—They flip a state House district in Georgia that had voted Trump by 13%.
—They keep Albuquerque's mayorship, while the liberal faction flips city council.
—And they get big overperformances (+18 & +22) in 2 Florida specials.

RESULTS: Democrat Tim Keller has won reelection as mayor of Albuquerque.

He defeats a former Republican sheriff, who took issue with Keller's executive order that limited collaboration with ICE.

And that's not all: Liberal faction seizes majority a city council.

Thank god someone is running with simple and powerful rhetoric like this. Incredibly frustrating how few high profile examples there seem to be. These Dem incumbents are sitting ducks! Anyone fresh who can run with a message like hers should do so.
I’m running for the U.S. Senate so the people who built Colorado can take back control of our healthcare, our homes, and our futures.
