Hi followers. In case you thought I was JUST a shitposter, I'm a historian, trained as a medievalist and working on the long eighteenth century, a college professor, and also for the last six years I've been writing about the far right. Primarily the religious far right, but not exclusively.

In the century leading up to 1975, nearly 6000 freighters went down in the Great Lakes.
The Edmund Fitzgerald was the last.
The last. In 50 years, not a single commercial freighter has been lost in the Great Lakes.
Why?
It's NOAA. Of course it's NOAA.

Look guys I’ve spent the last day playing this over and over again. Don’t read the comments first and stick it through to the second verse. It is in fact one of the funniest things I’ve ever heard.

Tim Kaine has a bunch of unemployed constituents. He's not the one I think we should be most frustrated with.
I think the deal shit and Dem leadership is useless for asking for so little. Also, I have friends who need paychecks. It's a fucking mess.

Being blocked for posting pictures of my cooking and responding patiently to the person saying this is insensitive that this is how I feel close to my newly deceased father?

It's really funny to have known Josh from Byzantine Studies Conferences and now... this.
Those of us who study the Theo Bros have long suspected a financial connection between them & the Tech Bros, but were unable to find it. Forbes just did. The connection is thru Marc Andreessen (who advises DOGE & is involved w/ Network States) & New Founding (led by Nate Fischer & Josh Abbottoy). 1/

Abolish ICE is the conservative position. Jail huge numbers of administration figures is the moderate. If they keep pushing war crimes, starvation, kidnappings, and secret police brutality, we head towards the Terror. I'd rather not.
“Abolish ice” at this point is the conservative position.
Everyone involved in the administration at any level is going to have to be tried for crimes against humanity and dealt with accordingly.
This isn’t going away with elections and we certainly cannot “come together” after this.

My mom came up to Iowa and we're going to the play my oldest is doing crew for and I'm going to make chili colorado for dinner.
One month without my dad. It's hard. I want to call him. I wish I could talk to him about what wusses everyone is about spice. The manuscripts I saw. How to be a director.

“They are making it clear that they are scared of prayer … it speaks the truth that what they are doing in that building is evil.”

I have this vision of how I want to spend the rest of my major writing career, vis-a-vis history books--two with @jtomlin.bsky.social on holy war rhetoric, in the colonial wars between England and France and then in the long American War of Independence. That's all NE America/Canada.

Going to be looking at a variety of letters in the Newberry today from the Seven Years War, and then have three French tomes if I have time--an engineers travel report from 1752 down Lake Champlain, a "memoire sur l'etat present des abenaquis," and documents on colonial Acadia written in 1760.
