TN07 is a story about gerrymandering: the GOP cracked Nashville into 3 districts when it redrew the 2022 map, destroying the Dem seat there.

Fast-forward: a section of Nashville, which just 5 years ago had a Dem representative, is now voting Dem by huge margins but it's been designed to not matter.

It’s worth remembering that Schumer helmed the DSCC during the 2006 and 2008 elections, when the Democrats gained massive numbers of seats and took a supermajority with a whole bunch of moderate to conservative candidates… 17 years later, I don’t think he has fully progressed past that playbook.
Wow — Senators Van Hollen, Smith, Murphy, Sanders, Warren, Markey, Merkley, Heinrich have created an official internal "Fight Club."

They're challenging Schumer & Gillibrand's leadership, arguing the party is using an old, corporate-friendly playbook insufficient to take on Trump or win elections.

The TX-18 seat will be filled by a Dem in a run-off (between 2 Dems) on 1/31/26. The special election in TX-7 is 12/2/25. The special in NJ-11 is 4/16/26. If both NJ-11 (likely) and TX-7 (stretch) go Dem, then in April the chamber will be 218-216 until MTG's seat is filled

UPDATE: The Senate votes 53-47 to shoot down the Baldwin amendment to extend ACA funds for 1 year. A party-line vote with every Republican rejecting it.
An important vote in this series: Tammy Baldwin’s proposal to extend ACA expiring funds for 1 year. It’s structured as a motion to table (i.e. scrap it from the amendment tree). But it’ll show the appetite (or lack thereof) in the Senate to address this issue.

Brett? Erratic, weird, and emotional?

Our Brett?!
Brett Kavanaugh's behavior during today's second oral arguments has been incredibly obnoxious and rude. He is so eager to kill a service member's lawsuit against a negligent government contractor that he keeps interrupting other justices, raising his voice, and getting emotional. Weird and erratic.

We are seeing not just a merging of different parts of the armed forces; we are also seeing a deprofessionalization. Competent people are fired. Those willing to break the law are hired. Normal practices are abandoned as the new force becomes more responsive to the demand for quotas & brutalization.
Experts warn this aggressive approach will likely fuel greater abuses of civil and human rights, heighten public anger and lead to more warrantless arrests, straying far from the previous stated focus on “the worst of the worst.” “Spectacle, not security.” www.chicagotribune.com/2025/11/02/b...

Today, Heritage Foundation effectively said that "no enemies to our right" includes Fuentes.

Democrats have this idea that you can carve out razor-thin positions on the ideological spectrum and that will come through to voters. No!

The right is going to call you pro-trans if you oppose bathroom bills. The left is going to call you anti-trans if you say trans women are men.

Emmanuel explicitly says he wants to shift the topic away from trans rights but he does so in the worst possible way.

The solution is to vocally affirm trans rights and immediately ask why Republicans are so laser-focused on the genitals of 13-year-olds. Don't shit on college students instead!

Mr. Political Instincts over here with the dumbest imaginable attempt at moderation on trans rights. You can't say that you'll protect LGBT policy while affirming bigotry in the next breath.

This doesn't appeal to the right, angers the left and reveals you as a worm to absolutely everyone.

The person I was sat next to never came back for the second half of The Brutalist, which is like Babe Ruth levels of calling your shot.

i think it’s partly because they’re trying to get construction started before anyone can stop them and partly because he’s in a huge hurry to see this thing built before, well, you’ve seen and heard him lately, you know.
AND ANOTHER THING. WHY WOULD YOU TEAR DOWN THE WHITE HOUSE BEFORE YOU HAVE THE ABILITY TO REPLACE IT? It only takes a couple of days to do the demo! Even for cynical political reasons, having gash on one side and a crater on the other is going to look terrible.
This has been gnawing at me. Apart from the abject illegality, it takes *a long time* to build anything in DC let alone the (theoretically) most secure house of government in the world. AND THERE ARE NO APPROVED PLANS. There's no way this thing get's built in Trump's lifetime.

One of the things that I’ve been forced to face and take the loss on is that all of the people who critiqued Bernie for his dismissive stances on identity politics were largely correct. This is a very bad response from a guy who should know better.
Bernie about Platner,

“In all due respect, all right, what I'm worried about, 50,000 Americans may die unnecessarily? And you're worried about a tattoo?"

When I asked about his comments about sexual assault, he said "Have you served four tours of duty?" I said "I have not."

Bernie: "Ok"
