I always find these memorials at Postman’s Park unbearably moving. They make my eyes water every time. It’s a lovely idea, to commemorate ordinary people who do extraordinary things.

“A special place in hell…”
To have inflicted that much damage on our country and to be enabled to still strut around, insisting on keeping us trapped in their dead-end of prejudice and failure… well, it’s beyond forgiveness… and sanity.
So, yes. Fuck that. Fuck them.
And cheers to the resistance🥂

This right here.

This woman is still a twat, but part of being on the left is believing in rehabilitation. This shit from our side isn't helpful.

I don't think this necessarily applies to Trump or his regime, but close to half of voters picked this guy, you need to let them admit their error.

Merry Christmas Dr. Rubens may you have festive Christmas and healthy, peaceful New Year.
I would like to thank you for teaching me to appreciate Dutch masters. Now each time I visit National Gallery in London my first place to visit is to gallery where Dutch paintings are displayed. Thank you.

So many nstagram adverts going 'hey, Stephen...would you like a newbuild in your area that is both smaller and more expensive than your flat'. Good news in the longterm, but no way that the government is going to make its housing targets in the capital without state intervention.

This is ominous and also very silly. The EU has never attempted to impose its standards on the US, so the allegations of extraterritorial censorship are false.

The EU has only ever attempted to control what the US makes available to publishees inside the EU. That is within its jurisdiction.

Other non-European countries associated to the programme (ie paying in) include Korea, New Zealand, Canada.

Here's a German version of "Silent Night" by the Comedian Harmonists. It was made in 1932 in the Weimar Republic, one year before Hitler seized total power and two years before the Nazis stopped them performing. It's still one of the most beautiful versions ever recorded!

Remember: Almost all of us are the descendants of immigrants who fled persecution, or were brought to America under duress, or sought better lives for themselves and their descendants.

Politicians who stoke fear and hatred over immigration want you to forget this.

Do not.

Freedom of movement is key to economic success (quite apart from its other virtues)
Wes Streeting is as idiotic about Brexit in his own way as Starmer is.

And to think that some in Labour feel that his wishy washy Customs Union comment will bring voters stampeding back tells you all you need to know about their tenuous grasp of the reality of geopolitics.
Apparently engaging with the EU is all about economics, while also avoiding freedom of movement. Sigh.

Anyone hoping to rejoin has a very very long wait.

Frankly, if you're a rejoiner over 50, I'd suggest taking up stamp collecting or bird watching instead. It'll be more fulfilling.

I really dislike this new trend of attacking politicians if they don’t attend memorial events, by claiming it shows they don’t care about your community, and also booing them when they do attend, because how dare they show their face in your community.

Viewing this whole Trump nightmare from afar, it's truly amazing how anyone can make every single event about themselves. Somehow he manages to insert himself into everything. And while we're at it. Why the fuck is Jared Kushner anywhere near any US state business?

The stench of Donald Trump will cover America for decades.

Because it’s not just about him.

It’s about the people that elected him. And could elect the next traitorous “tell me everything I want to hear” lying Nazi.

America never dealt with its racism.

I’ve been in US for so long now that I really was struck when I arrived yesterday by the general niceness, politeness and normality of people here! On my BA flight it was so disarming to hear the pilot and crew repeatedly apologizing for every tiny inconvenience, and speaking in unassuming tone.
I’m in UK right now; full of nice people from different backgrounds, exchanging pleasantries, doing Christmas shopping, eating out, attending carol
services, chatting about the weather, and generally going about their business in friendly manner. Far from the hellhole MAGA would have you believe!
