This is what pandering to the far-right has done in Germany. In 2021, the Greens were a threat to the CDU/CSU. So Merz, Söder and the right-wing media did everything they could to destroy them with an unprecedented anti-Green and anti-Woke campaign. The result of that has more than doubled the AFD!

For what little it's worth, my contribution to this morning's "here's why today's result proves how I was right all along" discourse is that it feels increasingly clear to me they should have reversed the NI cuts and gone all out on trying to fix public services.
