This isn’t a Fee this is a Deterrent! This is going to light the economy On Fire!
Tucked away in the 'One Big Beautiful Bill' is the requirement that all visitors to the US must pay $250 just to enter the country starting 1 October! For a family of 5 that's $1250! I doubt this will help America's crashing tourism business which is down 10% already since January

I think the general public need to cop to the phenomenon of conservative Christians proclaiming themselves to be radical feminists, trans people were way ahead of this rhetorical trick but unfortunately we were ignored
The censorship of 80+ games on Steam this week was apparently the work of Australian antiporn group Collective Shout, which partnered with US evangelicals to pressure Visa and Mastercard.

They claimed, without evidence, that the games involved child abuse.

Great work by @acvalens.net for VICE.

Since Israel uses its offensive weapons to commit genocide in Gaza and bomb the countries around it, Israel should have to pay for its own defense.

The Israeli military operates the way it does because those in power know the U.S. will continue to back them, no matter what. 1/2

this is such a perfect illustration of the fundamental disconnect between what LLMs are and how they are sold and how people interact with them

it’s not a person, it does not “know” things, it does not remember and learn from things the way a person does

it is predicting what someone might say

PLEASE SIGN! Steam just updated their TOS due to payment processors' pressue to remove content that "violates terms". Visa and Mastercard are targeting adult content again. Patreon's stringent rules around 18+ work exist bc of them and onlyfans was pressured too (along with many others). Push back.

Millions get their news from NPR and PBS every day.

For emergency alerts, disaster updates, the weather and other reliable news.

Stations in rural areas, which rely twice as much on federal funding, could close.

Defunding this basic service would put millions in the dark.

In Brazil you can buy games on Steam using PIX, a fantastic digital payment system developed by the Brazilian government.

In the same week as US payment processors are censoring what you can buy, the US government is attacking Brazil & PIX.

As i have been saying for years now, the most practically effective, strategically feasible, and 100% non-violent way to abolish ICE is to make working there--in any capacity, at any level--one of the most socially unpopular things an American can do.
pretty wild that ICE ERO is currently hiring Directors for 21 of its 25 Field Offices. must be some pretty severe turnover!

They just say shit--no matter the consequences. This is not justice.
At a press conference last month, the Attorney General of the United States publicized the claim that Abrego played a role in the murder of a rival gang member’s mother.

Today, more than a month later, the government’s own witness admitted that they haven’t been able to corroborate that allegation.

I'd just like to point out how weird it is that places with hundreds or even thousands of reporters — the NYT, WaPo, CBS, NBC, AP, etc. — are all getting pummeled on every major story by the dozen computerboys at Wired. To fumble the bag this consistently is, at some point, cowardice and a choice.

To hear Trump tell it, he has infinite power to do good and no power to do bad, and anyone who says otherwise is an enemy of the country. To believe in MAGA is to believe in his simultaneous omnipotence and impotence, depending on whichever is convenient for partisan purposes.

Dismantling the Department of Education was in P25. It's no surprise that they are doing it. What is surprising is that people are dumbed down to the point of thinking this is a good idea. We will never be able to compete with the world. We are becoming a third world nation, in less than a year.
