@afc-soasv.bsky.social Hi, do you have anything big planned for the first home game of the season vs Leeds on 23rd August? I’m sure if you started a fundraiser you’d get a lot of support.

Some in Labour HQ may want to reflect on this - here’s a policy which has drastically improved air quality, benefitting the poorest citizens. But Starmer’s LOTO started criticising it because a couple of Clarkson bigmouths complained in focus groups & they (wrongly imho) blamed it for Uxbridge loss

Ultimately, you look at the way billionaires, senators and commentators have caved to Trump's bully shtick, and the way Zelenskiyy stood up to it, and wish the fat cowards who enabled American fascism has faced a day of hardship in their lives.

“Vanceplaining” perhaps
The idea that JD Vance—who has never been to Ukaine and chalks up his knowledge to shit he read on the internet—believes he knows more about the situation in Ukraine than the man who has led it for the past 5.5 years is a perfect encapsulation of the havoc this administration is wreaking worldwide
ZELENSKYY: Putin broke the ceasefire. What kind of diplomacy, JD, are you speaking about?

VANCE: I think it's disrespectful to come into the Oval Office and try to litigate this in front of the American media

The scenes in the Oval Office today will shame the US for decades. They’ll never be forgotten.

A world leader, fighting for his country against the 21st century’s Nazis, came to the US and was attacked & abused by a gangster regime siding with the fascist invaders.

A historic disgrace.

NEW: Just 6% of Gen Z say they actually want a dictator – not over half, as has been recently claimed.

Our study finds only a very small minority of 13-27-yr-olds really feel this way, when their views and interpretations are tested with different questioning approaches 🧵⬇️

I celebrate the 80% of Germans who did not vote for the far right. Do not make 19.6% of German voters into "the" German people (again).

"The" German people don't exist! The German population is diverse and divided, but voted overwhelmingly for liberal democratic parties.

The LibDem voters are more liberal on immigration than average and the Reform voters much the most anti-migration

But on every one of these 9 questions, the LibDem voters are closer to the median voter than the Reform voters

we talk about how the median voter ignored everything Trump repeatedly, explicitly promised he was going to do out of a bullheaded certainty he was lying and he was really just going to bring 2019 back

"England" is indeed a standard warning in any liberalisation debate in Germany. And there is merit to it, a lot was done badly.

But Germany managed to run a fully integrated, state-owned train system to the wall, with the result that most English trains services are a lot better.
Finally some sharp insights from Scholz

Seeing some very familiar patterns in how people (and prominent media people) have been talking about Lewis-Skelly recently.

I’m reminded of the narrative around Sterling, Pogba, Rashford and why they needed to stay in their lanes, be humble. I wonder what they all have in common.

Both DeepSeek & ChatGPT also believe Ivan Toney still plays for Brentford too.

So a number of high priority, concerning items.

If Keir’s unfavourables look this for Tories, Reform, Lib Dem’s and much of Labour’s voters anyway, then honestly why not lean fully into closer EU alignment, referendum in the 2029 manifesto etc

Who exactly are you losing that’s not already gone

I feel like I’m being gaslighted by the whole of football punditry. Newcastle gave up 3 xG in one game. Loads of clear cut chances. They genuinely defended horribly against a team that has recently struggled to create.
Apparently they had an unbreachable back line tonight?

NEW: Keir Starmer takes a swipe at Elon Musk.

"A line has been crossed", he says.

“Those that are spreading lies… are not interested in victims, they’re interested in themselves....cheerleading Tommy Robinson... who went to prison for nearly collapsing a gang grooming case."

Over the last two games Arsenal have allowed four shots for 0.33 xG COMBINED while “only” generating 25 shots for 3.45 xG. It really sucks for them that they got two points on a combined 1-1 score line from those two matches, but it’s simply not indicative of something being wrong with them.
