Right, but who are the 5% of Green voters opposed?
Net zero is one of the many areas where commentators are out-of-touch with public opinion in Britain. There is still broad support for cutting carbon emissions - except from among Reform supporters, who are the outliers.
🧵/ How far does the public support net zero?
Support: 60%
Oppose: 25%
Net support by party
Green: +81
Lib Dem: +67
Lab: +64
Con: +11

If you're still letting off fireworks on November 10th (particularly if you wake my child and/or scare my cat) then I hope you have a permanently itchy butthole. Dickheads

This does make it sound like the BBC thinks the default reader is a Liverpool fan (and, tbf, the homepage today doesn't really suggest otherwise!)

On the one hand, how do you top this, given the calibre of celeb they had?
On the other, presumably they'll be queuing up? I suspect Lineker...

I know it’s the job, I know it’s the industry, but if the same person can go from
‘Liverpool are favourites’ to
‘It’s Arsenal to lose’ to
‘City look like relentless title winners’
in 10 weeks, then it’s absolutely not worth paying them attention.
And that is almost the entire football media!

The BBC needs someone experienced enough to run a huge media org, and willing to take a job with no security. They need to know the BBC well enough to do the job, but not be an “insider”. They need to somehow be acceptable to a Lab government but also right-wing papers.
This person doesn’t exist.

I would really love the 115 to hit them hard this year
I know many are pleased with this result but I fucking hate the criminal enterprise that is City.
They need to be gotten rid of.

Liverpool spent nearly £300m this summer building an attack to ease their reliance on Mohamed Salah.
Today Salah took three of their seven shots and assisted three more. He had over 60% of their xG. And this was a rather poor performance by him.

I’ve only seen the still, so major caveat but…
This looks obviously correct? Which is not what my TL is suggesting

There is further controversy at the Etihad Stadium as Liverpool think they have equalised, but after an intervention from VAR it is ruled out.
Virgil van Dijk's header is chalked off after Andy Robertson, stood in an offside position, was adjudged to have impeded goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma.

Sometimes you are having that season. Haaland is definitely having that season, which is why city are going to win, or get very close to winning, the title
That just hits him lol

Should have been given on field, so it's hard to say it shouldn't be a VAR penalty. But it's very slight contact to be saying the ref has definitely got it wrong.
Right outcome, not enamoured with the process

Another in a long line of VAR decisions that seem to lower the bar on what is a clear and obvious error by the on field referee (if the ref had given it in the first place, same would be true if overturned). #MCILIV #PremierLeague

I haven't seen my child all weekend, and she'll be home in like 15 minutes, so I'm not going to see much more of this weekend...
but I have thoroughly enjoyed these first 15 minutes, both teams should keep doing *this*

Teams should do this more. The longer it goes, the less likely VAR is to intervene and I have no idea why but it's definitely true
Did City kick it out of play to help ensure a VAR review? Smart.

That's surely a pen? Like, Doku gets a shot, but we should never punish players for staying up...

This is going to be a fascinating game - so much to learn about both sides.
So, there, City cut through Liverpool super easily, but once Foden mis-controlls he doesn't even try to match van Dijk for pace or strength.
Then, at the other end, Donnarumma doesn't get off his line with Salah through

56% is exactly how I feel about this. Yes, we win that more often than not, but you need to do more if you want to make sure
