i quit my job & my last day is friday. so many of my fellow library workers here are smart, caring, hilarious, generous & kind. I will miss them terribly. i don't know if i'll work in libraries again & it's kind of fucking with me but I was burned out 5 years ago & it was only getting worse.

Some people don't feel as close to this as they ought to. Most of us are just a bad break or two away from winding up on the streets, and addiction & mental health crises can affect anyone. They're gutting services and rendering more of us disposable, and there's a carceral disposal system waiting.

on our walk around the lane this morning Luna & I followed deer strolling down the middle of the road & I observed a small, rolling sea of vining greenery - not ivy, maybe kudzu? - encroaching upon a house set down a steep driveway below the road.
