We do have a crisis of masculinity, it is the people decrying the crisis of masculinity. It's been them the whole time!

ever since I learned about three-cueing I've developed infinitely more patience for replies on social media. mfers literally do not know how to read. people are walking around conjuring random meanings into words they don't know, and they don't know a lot of words. it's crazy

Took my first scooter ride in a while today (been doing Metro bike) and it’s so depressing what a missed opportunity that was for cities. We did to scooters everything we should have done to cars:
- capped speeds with governors
- refused to give curb space
- made heavy pedestrian areas no go zones

Part of the issue is that many Americans are inclined to think of Germany as a closer peer than Brazil, Argentina or Chile when I would argue the reverse is true.
among the issues with people not having any knowledge of hybrid regimes in the global South is the fact that everyone assumes contemporary authoritarian governance looks like 20th century totalitarianism

I feel like I've spent today sorting through accusations of this guy being a groyper, only to find that those aren't based on anything. There isn't an indictment yet. The cops haven't handled this better, but seriously—posting without verification makes you no better than the right yelling "antifa."

To be honest, I think this is what some people--the people most likely to be interviewed by media-- mean when they say "the economy". They want services to be cheap because low wage workers have terrible outside options. Instacart and Uber being expensive was "the economy". Now it's better. 😖
America's lowest wage workers were experiencing the fastest wage growth from 2015-2022.

Now they are experiencing the slowest wage growth and the most abrupt deceleration.

I think the idea of Dying for Something is very appealing for young men because living for something is much, much harder.
To be clear for those of you chomping for the American Years of Lead, this greatly increases your personal chances of dying in random political violence.

It will not be a heroic, meaningful death.

It will be meaningless, forgotten, and fade into the background noise of a society in free fall.

I’ve had long established policy workers in Sac tell me this was more or less impossible. That you can’t get middle class people out of their cars and on transit and even worse you’d increase car dependency since middle class residents would displace lower income renters away from transit.
📰 Seattle added about 80,000 residents while adding just 3,300 cars.
