I feel like I've spent today sorting through accusations of this guy being a groyper, only to find that those aren't based on anything. There isn't an indictment yet. The cops haven't handled this better, but seriously—posting without verification makes you no better than the right yelling "antifa."

Reason is key: is it better productivity or a negative financial shock? Mainstream but libertarian-leaning economists like Selgin do call for more deflation tolerance, for the former, e.g., www.cato.org/policy-repor.... Today he’s also warm on some forms of free banking and “stablecoins".

Banks don’t finance everything to squeeze people; they take on risk on a future that looks productive and profitable, or lose on failed loans. Old banking wasn’t that deflationary, but mostly quite unstable (arguably Bad; imgur.com/9vOFnjQ). And modern central banks want room to lower rates. 2/2
