I used to think there weren't many Black VTubers. But when I looked into it. There are MANY. Just like with everything for Black people, it's just that much harder for them to be recognized. It's also harder for them to gain visibility, get collabs and opportunities.

That’s exactly right. The lesson of gamergate is that on the internet you can just invent something to be mad at that invokes reactionary ideas about race or gender. Then you can spin it up into a massive storm of far-right hate, continually producing massive backlash to stuff that barely happened.
if there’s one thing the right learned from GamerGate, it’s that you can just openly make up a casus belli for the next stage of the culture war and people will generally go along with it. nobody on the left gives a solitary fuck about Sydney Sweeney, but they think we do and that’s enough for them.
