Followed up with a personal-injury lawyer about the physician who tore my hip and they confirmed what I suspected: despite my extensive records of the injury, my case is so unlikely to succeed that they won’t take it.
For the most part, doctors can injure you with absolutely no consequences.

I hate how common it is for people to blame me for not trying hard enough or doing enough to get medical help. There's only so much I can do until they discharge me from the hospital or threaten to call security on me. I guess it's just easier to just blame me.

I have a much newer one on my phone lanyard. Don't know if it can handle dark skin, but it can work out respiration rate.
it was only discovered how to get RR from pulse ox data just a few years ago. I've yet to encounter a pulse ox in a hospital or clinic with that functionality.

Hence the posting. @bibiblossoms.bsky.social is a friend who can't get much needed breathing support in emergencies because her skin is too dark for the pulse oximeters at the hospital, which in my experience tend to be several years old at least, behind the tech.

Because a poorly designed device that is well documented to fail on darker skin is believed over the lived experience of the patient, who is asking for OXYGEN. Not drugs, just more air.

I have been suffering a lot because it's been getting harder and harder to breathe. And get enough oxygen. It feels like I'm suffocating at times. I know that my surgery to fix my breathing issues is in 2 months. But it doesn't make it any less painful, exhausting & frustrating.

I have been suffering a lot because it's been getting harder and harder to breathe. And get enough oxygen. It feels like I'm suffocating at times. I know that my surgery to fix my breathing issues is in 2 months. But it doesn't make it any less painful, exhausting & frustrating.

It's so much easier to fundraise for other people or giveaways than for my own survival. I know I work and that I have a business. But that does not mean I don't deserve help or support. Especially with the tariff situation greatly affecting my business. I've been losing money.
