Friends— here it is. Updated & expanded thanks to the space afforded to me in the @therumpus.net & the guidance of the brilliant @roxanegay.bsky.social’s edits. The win centers Muslims humanity — but what does that mean in a country that rejects that?

here is my story about how Zohran's focus on community amid the loneliness epidemic helped young people connect their politics to an organizing infrastructure, that interviewed ZM, and does not use the NYT's framing of "they don't know how to make friends" :-) and also ran 4 days before NYT's lol
Zohran Mamdani's Establishment-Fighting Campaign Built Community for Young People
“What Mamdani has done is not only inspire and mobilize young people, but he has exposed the establishment and some of their calcified views of participation and inclusion.”

Mamdani: "My message to ICE agents & to everyone across this city is that everyone will be held to the same standard of the law. If you violate it, you must be held accountable. There is sadly a sense growing that certain people are allowed to violate that law, whether they be POTUS or ICE agents."

basically every 2024 truism is dead. Trump did not build a lasting multiracial coalition or turn young men into committed Republicans. You don’t need to cave on trans rights to win. The pundits have nothing left to tell you.

Please, Mr. President, continue to talk on camera about how you, personally, are trying to starve the poor.
Trump on food stamps: "These benefits were given to anybody that asked. They're up to $47 billion. It wasn't the purpose of SNAP. During Biden they gave it to anybody who wanted it. I think it's something you have to talk about."
November 5, 2025 at 1:37 PM
And the Republicans hucked money into the sun on anti-trans shit, which the Dem candidates rebuked and were rewarded for doing so.
Jeffries: "Abigail focused relentlessly on affordability and driving down the high cost of living in VA. Mikie Sherrill focused relentlessly on affordability & dealing with some of the escalating prices in NJ. And of course Zohran focused relentlessly on affordability. That's the connective tissue"

This needs more attention: Zohran SPLIT the straights with Cuomo. ALL of his margin was from LGBTQ+ voters. Every Dem who ever said “we should abandon the transes” needs this shoved down their fucking throat with a ramrod.

Maybe if Trump talked about "Transgender for everybody" more voters would have realized what a normal, kitchen table concern patently stupid bigotry is.
perhaps spending more than half their ad budget on ads attacking trans children was a tactical error
Earle-Sears ran what felt like 12 billion ads about how much she hated trans kids and I didn’t hear a single pundit say she should stick to real issues that affect real people.

Incredible how there was a world where they slowrolled their agenda over the course of a few years and wouldn't get 1/10th the pushback as people's exhaustion with being angry wore down resistance, but the stupid bastards decided to all-in from the word "go" and galvanized the country against them.
in retrospect it’s incredibly funny to have watched republicans rule the country as if their very small victory in 2024 gave them a complete mandate for total power to do whatever extremist shit they wanted to do, and i hope they continue forward with that mindset

I wonder if this is part of why he's been so desperate for a peace prize, along with his saltiness Obama has one. Reaching the end of his life and looking for something, anything he can point to and say "I was a good person."
okay one time talking about heaven is just a random thought word vomited into the world. This is what? the third or fourth time?
Trump: "I don't think there's anything that's gonna get me in heaven. I think I'm not maybe heaven bound. I may be in heaven right now as we fly on Air Force One. I'm not sure I'm gonna be able to make heaven."

It cannot be made clearer.

If you continue to support the Harry Potter franchise in any way, you are directly funding the removal of trans people's human rights in the UK.

Moreover, ICE must be destroyed

Gonna just say, if it's this easy to protest against the monolith that is Disney. Then there is no excuse for people to be clinging to Harry Potter. Like, if the needle can be moved against Disney, people can make it move against JK Rowling. Stop the flow of money into her accounts,
If you protested Jimmy Kimmel being pulled off the air by canceling Disney+ or some similarly simple action that had clear, direct, effective results, it feels good that you helped get him back, right? The neat part of you can choose another simple action, and keep that awesome feeling going.

Awful and dangerous to hear the Mayor echo the transphobic bigotry coming from the Trump administration. It's completely at odds with the values of our city and another reason why his single, disgraced term in office cannot end soon enough.

Transgender people are owed a retraction and apology from @wsj.com. The lie has already become canon to millions and it seems the least they could do.

reinstate Jessie, this is ridiculous
