It’s clear from the video this woman had just come to the park to play with her child. She said as much and was upset that there were masked men with guns in the park.

Border Patrol chief Greg Bovino calls the woman an “activist” and Andy Ngo says the woman was using her child as a “human shield.”

Thanks to the eyewitnesses of today's inept firebombing attack, the suspect was arrested around 4:30pm. Fletcher's Ice Cream is one of my faves.
Just witnessed someone trying to fireb*mb Fletcher’s Ice Cream in NE. Saw a dude acting weird next to a parked car in front of the place. I walked by, heard a smash through my earbuds, smelled gasoline/kerosine. Turned around, snapped some photos instinctively. Thankfully they suck at molot*vs.

Maybe it's because they know that the photo of them standing next to Dear Leader while tanks parade by isn't a good look and in fact will destroy their careers when a free and fair election happens again?

Truly an idiotic self-own to drive away US-trained talent.
I just got the official email from the NSF about the drastic cuts and I think the correct translation is "if you are a young researcher who still wants to do science strongly consider leaving the United States if you can." which, really, is not an ideal message to be sending.

Credit where it's due: it is helpful that a thoroughly corporate mainstream media outlet is able to draw the line from "Musk is spreading bullshit about fraud in Social Security" to "Trump and Musk are coming for your Social Security and this is them laying the groundwork"

The secret to MY happy marriage:

1. Make sure your spouse knows every day how much you love, value and respect them

2. Don't do things that you would be ashamed to tell your spouse about

3. Be present for your spouse

4. Apologize when you do stupid things

5. Make them laugh when you can

We're not to the point where we need to lie in order to survive, and that's about the only ✳️ I can see here.
Fucking. Embarassing.

These Hugo dossiers are disgusting.

"Author openly describes themselves as queer, nonbibary, trans... I don't know how that will play in China (I suspect less than well)"

They wrote that in writing.

Well, confirmed.

Hugo organizers self-censored the ballots and threw out votes to preemptively appease an authoritarian regime.

They made dossiers to see if an author so much as acknowledged Tibet on Twitter, or mentioned China in a way they were too unknowlegeable to know if it was good or bad.
For the last few weeks I've been working with Chris Barkley @cmzhang42.bsky.social of @file770.bsky.social on a report about censorship in the 2023 Hugo Awards.

Leaked emails and files indicate authors and works deemed “not eligible” for the awards were removed due to political considerations. 1/3

His lawyers are now arguing that he could get away with having a political opponent assassinated as long as Congress didn't impeach & convict him.

Believe him when he tells us who he is.
