Hello new followers! I am trans and autistic but wrote a book that is about neither of those things so neither of those communities tend to know about it. It’s called I Heart Politics and it’s a good read, I promise
My only comment on salary sacrifice schemes is that E wanted to do it for cycle to work but they wouldn’t let him because it would bring his salary below the minimum wage

Every time. She won’t tell the personal story of all the trans people and allies she and her husband got blacklisted or had commissions spiked from a bunch of places
I see Helen Lewis is now moaning about how "gender criticals" were marginalised by the BBC who wouldn't let them "debate" trans people's existence freely! It really is a cult

Fun (or not so fun) fact - the author of the “BBC bias” memo is a lobbyist for the American Pharmaceutical Group.
U.S. pharma companies recently threatened to abandon the UK unless the NHS pays more for its medicines.
They also donated millions to Trump’s campaign and inauguration

US Election
Racial Diversity
Biological sex and gender
Israel-Hamas war

It's actually worse than this - Prescott tried to argue that the BBC had inappropriately hidden the fact that a Trans woman in pro wrestling had been part of storylines where she "won" trophies against other women - a fictional sport he treated as if it was real.
It was instructive to see that the Prescott memo argued at one point for completely the opposite: that enabling trans voices even as counterbalance to GC dogma is not legitimate, based on a spurious analogy with maternity care.

What motivates people to be transphobic is immersion in the kind of society that legitimises and breeds transphobia. It's on tv, in the papers, in social discourse. Removing a phone in school means kids will see it on laptops. Removing laptops means they'll see it on tv. @charlotte2153.bsky.social

Let us simply not check that figure after they stuck most of the BBC in the US behind a paywall a few months ago to increase revenue at the expense of British soft power and influence.
Nowhere in the hysterical pile-on against the BBC in the British press has anyone mentioned that BBC News now has 77 million viewers & listeners in the US and has established itself as the second most trusted news source there.

This is a very good piece, but Lewis is still too (understandably) scared to contradict his colleagues on air about the anti-trans stuff
The reaction to the Panorama edit has been nothing short of hysterical. Yes the BBC has some impartiality problems. But its biggest isn't the one you think.

Healthcare, social assistance, asylum – being a journalist in Britain is, for the most part, shaping the offical narrative to why people should live in worse conditions and be even more miserable. And if you're really lucky you might get a Press Award at the end of it

I came across a clip from yesterday from LBC of John Sopel and Emily Maitlis talking to Shelagh Fogarty about what's happening at the BBC and they all conceded the complainant DID have a point about the BBC's pro-trans bias and it was just three people being transphobic for a couple of minutes.

Similar to the Hinsliff article about GenX radicalisation. Beam. Own eye. Speck in others. No understanding
What's fascinating here is that as she rhymes off the list of gender critical people at Newsnight pursuing an explicitly gender critical agenda, in the context of a discussion of ideological capture at the BBC, she doesn't recognise that she was part of the ideological capture of the BBC by GCs.

If you’re discussing the rise of a global fascist movement that is now strongly exerting itself domestically and you’re *still* wittering about the speech tyranny of the kids and the baleful influence of Stonewall, then that’s pretty wacky, folks! It looks unserious and self-indulgent at very best!

A group of powerful national journalists choosing to single out the healthcare of a vulnerable minority for a campaign of intense laser-like scrutiny would, in an humane society, be described as an insane radicalised pogrom.
But on Normal Island, that's a Wednesday.
