My dad died at 50 because it was pre-ACA and he could not get insured. I was 20 years old. My mom had to declare bankruptcy. That was enough to radicalize me. And there are tons of us with similar stories.

My husband @robertcooper-us.bsky.social and I were the FIRST gay couple to adopt children in this country. We adopted our first baby back in 1985, and eventually adopted five in all. Here’s a pic of our two oldest kids meeting their younger brother for the first time. We later adopted twin girls! ❤️
