i maintain the biggest factors here stopping movement on this is dealing with the influence from cops and prisons on this... as well as one unspoken part the government sees in for itself, free prison labor for the state. you see reticence around legalizing weed, check local prison labor laws.
I’m biased, so discount as needed, but i still need Dems to become more cool on weed and not putting people in jail for drugs. I get the concern some quarters have with looking soft on (cough) urban crime, but: weed is genuinely popular and salient!
I loathe to give Shor credit here but his theories really taking popular positions on *salient* issues. A lot of centrists think that you can just run on 80-20 issues no one cares about and win automatically. Which ironically is the GOP strategy with running on trans sports

My son is on blockers legally from before the ban and we did everything they told us to do and now we are being threatened with social services if we don't allow them to "safely withdraw" medication. They admit that the impact will be "stark" for our kids but they are going to do it anyway.
