This is how a company can ethically respond when their IP is co-opted by the Trump regime. When it's released on social media, enough ppl see it, you're not going to make it "worse".
Still waiting for a certain star to condemn use of IP, even if no legal action can be taken.

I'm inclined to give Time a pass for this error, given Beaverton's pretend quote was more or less a direct statement, rather than the subject's implied messages, and thinly-veiled threats.

How tf did it take Harvard until today to make this call?
It should have been immediately. Note it's "while" investigating... which means he somehow may weasel his way out of consequences. Again.

The problem with the climate regime in one article: With fewer people attending COP30 "one in every 25 participants at this year’s UN climate summit is a fossil fuel lobbyist." It is "the largest concentration of fossil fuel lobbyists at COP" and up 12% from COP29 www.theguardian.com/environment/...

While Canadian politicians are still caught up in their AI love affair, panic is rippling through the industry.

Tech expert @scanthehorizon.bsky.social writes that the AI bubble may be about to burst, with massively damaging consequences for Canadians.

To add to the pile of Alice Wong's work (that we should continue reading for years and years to come), here's an archival link to an digital Bitch Media Access Issue that Alice co-edited back in 2021 (apologies for access issues on this archival link) web.archive.org/web/20211104...
Why We’re Running a Series About Access
Access is still treated as if it’s a privilege, a burden, or a form of special treatment.

Oh wow! I struggle with feeling 'hypoglycemic' on a moderately regular basis (I eat to try to prevent it & always keep snacks nearby)... some interesting possibilities.
The third topic @binitakane.bsky.social and I discussed was episodes of low blood sugar patients often report, even though their home testing shows normal blood sugar, broken down more in this blog (as promised!):

Nicely summarizes how the Carney government’s thoughtless, reckless AI strategy will reduce government capacity while making government more dependent on foreign tech firms.
As with a lot of things with this government, it comes down to a refusal to think about long-term governance issues.

To put this in perspective, the entire growth of data center energy in the US in 2020-024, combined, is less than half the solar energy China deployed *last year alone.*

American energy policy is crippled by trying to keep petrochem relevant. It's embarrassing, it's ridiculous.
Clean Energy accounted for all electricity growth this year. Gas/Coal were basically a wash and will be for years to come for electricity generation.

We need to ramp up batteries because they are 90% cheaper than distribution grid upgrades which is the main reason we have rate increases.

For future baking... I do love my crisps though
okay. so there are often a few dessert recipes that share things (type of dish; fruit) in common but this is really kicked up for fall. just about everything that isn’t pumpkin is apple or pear & one of the variety of “baked fruit w/ starch on top”, to the point where they offer a guide to the types

There's also the issue of Covid suppressing antibody production in early infection.
Why could a PCR test be positive and antibodies negative when *you have an infection*?

It takes days for antibodies to be produced.

A wide array of antibodies are produced and people don’t react the same way.

The test for antibodies is often not as sensitive as PCR.

No conspiracy.

We’re not doing “disability accommodations are unnecessary and unfair actually” discourse less than 24 hours after Alice Wong has passed. Absolutely the fuck not, even if it is a perfect example of the kind of shit disabled people have to deal with and why Alice’s activism was and is so necessary.

A masterful essay worth everyone’s time.
I have a feature essay for The Guardian today on the mirage of AI medicine, why care cannot be automated, and how overwhelming uptake of AI by American health capitalism threatens to undermine the very possibility of democracy.

Meanwhile, Watson won a Nobel off that work & survived to the ripe old age of 97 by simply: stealing those notes!

So. many. people.
I have lost patience
with my coworker
who wants to know
my secret
for not getting sick
so after her latest round
of questions I stated
“the main thing I do
is always wear a good mask,”
and she nodded
in reply she slowly nodded
and then said:
“but I don’t want to wear one.”
