Hi everyone! I’m a planetary scientist who studied clouds on brown dwarf & exoplanet atmospheres. I left academia to start my own business, connecting my passions of science + art. I create unique multi-spectral space paintings by combining different wavelengths of light in interesting patterns. 🔭🐡

Guess what's finished...!!!
I'll post the link tomorrow morning, but if you can't wait that long, it's already up on my blog.
(Be warned, the main diagram is gorgeous, but the rest is kind of a mess😅, so... enjoy!)

These are as close to "spooky" drawings as I get. There's a somewhat spectral raven, a cuckoo wasp overcome by fungus, and a death's-head moth.

I had a bit of trouble with today’s #SciArtSeptember prompt for day 4: cold-blooded. I’m trying to focus on local species I work with or around!
This one’s a bit of a stretch, but here is a bluntnose stingray 🧪

One of the delights locally is seeing a returning osprey population, especially as they go grocery shopping in the nearby river.

Meanwhile, dinner is Strangling (Day 5) in its’ talons. 🪶🐡 #SciArtSeptember

For the #SciArtSeptember theme “strangling” my gel plate prints of Vincetoxicum rossicum, also known as European swallowwort, or Dog-strangling Vine. Introduced to the northeastern US gardens in the mid-1800s, it’s become wildly invasive in south and central Ontario. 🧪🐡🌿

#herpetology #lizards #SciArtSeptember It is unfortunate that so many museum specimens are in poor or incomplete condition. Breeders, how might scientists entreat you to donate your dearly departed? Seriously??

#SciArtSeptember Day 5: strangling

This symptomatology embroidery, neuraesthenia (2017), depicts the sensation of post-exertional malaise (PEM), the hallmark symptom of ME/CFS. PEM feels like an extreme heaviness, as if the energy system of the body is being strangled. #SciArt 🧶🩺🧪🐡

This linocut illustrates a terrible pun: 'Weevil weevil rock U' rather than "We will, we will rock you," of course. The larger weevil is the extravagant, long-necked
