A SWEET Cure for Gerrymandering
Achieve nearly proportional representation, destroy incentives to gerrymander, and make every vote matter - all at the small price of one unorthodox feature

I have a proposal that would fix most problems with our electoral system, without any fundamental changes. It would be easy to implement; all that is needed is political will. substack.com/inbox/post/1...
Someone needs to ask him, if this is true, how come only as many as necessary voted for cloture, and zero out of the eight are up for reelection?
MSNBC reported Schumer's office felt that the longer that shutdown went on, the more likely it was that people would start to blame the Dems.
My kingdom for Democrats that don't govern out of fear. I've said it before and I'll say it again: The American people are far braver than their reps.

Having already killed 600,000 Africans, King Sizediaper I asserts his right to starve Americans.
BREAKING: DOJ goes to SCOTUS trying to stop a district court order that USDA pay out full SNAP benefits this month.
The First Circuit denied an administrative stay, but has not yet ruled on the stay request. And, CNN reported that USDA is already processing payments.
DOJ went to SCOTUS anyway.

South Africa, South America, South Park… it’s all the same.
Trump: "For generations Miami has been a haven for those fleeing communist tyranny in South Africa. I mean, if you take a look at what's going on in parts of South Africa. Look at South Africa, what's going on. Look at South America, what's going on. You know, we have a G20 meeting in South Africa."

Some 🔥🔥🔥 from Abrego Garcia, calling out DOJ stonewalling on discovery into his vindictive prosecution claim and zeroing in on DAG Todd Blanche as a key witness.
Looming over all this: If govt succeeds in removing Abrego Garcia to Liberia, the criminal case becomes moot, which might be the point.

We finally found the ideal juror who’s been living under a rock, and he turns out to be a New York Times editor!
Just the other day it came out that this particular NYT editor’s job is to write NYT headlines and a lot of things made much more sense…
Just insane thing for a NYT editor to say publicly:

Too much lead in protein supplements? Is that why so many dudebros are stupid sociopaths?
my latest investigation for @consumerreports.org is based on months of reporting and 60+ lab tests of leading protein supplements
we found that most protein powders and shakes have more lead in one serving than our experts say is safe to have in a day (🧵)

Justice Anthony Kennedy tells @npr.org's @ninatotenberg.bsky.social "very worried" about our country, and that "Democracy is not guaranteed to survive."
Kennedy wrote Citizens United and was the fifth vote in the rest of the Roberts Court's anti-democratic decisions.

A trifecta for 4 years *would* solve a lot of problems, but only if it didn’t depend on people unwilling to solve problems, like the last trifecta (when the problems were smaller) depended on Manchin and Sinema. The next trifecta must expand SCOTUS to 15 members on day one or it will be a bandaid.
It's like watching a bear try to ride a bicycle.
In general, a good strategy for Democrats is to run more moderate candidates in swing states. Yes. But the system's problems will not be solved by Dems winning a Senate majority for a 2-year cycle. Or even the Dems getting a trifecta for 4 years.

The dude texted "I'm going to shoot protestors", then went and shot a Black Lives Matter protester. He was convicted in a jury trial.
