Well, for one thing, a lot of them are quite literally products of Apartheid South-Africa (the PayPal crew is a stark example of this.) Beyond that: they're largely a bunch of scummy libertarians with a level of grandiosity and entitlement that requires a huge, formalized subaltern-class.
I don't know how to process that. What is it they think they like?

Creating a big tent is fine, great even. But that tent has to have a pole, a backbone, a set of values it believes in and policies it supports, otherwise it simply caves in and is no kind of shelter, gathering place or party at all.

It's interesting that those preaching "big tent" mean a place that includes people who want immigrants out, but not immigrants themselves. A space where anti-trans activists are granted a megaphone but trans people aren't permitted to enter.

i think the most consistent bullshit i've been fed about dems my whole life, even more than any "they really DO care about (policy they abandon immediately)", is "dems have learned their lesson about bipartisanship and republicans this time and see them as an enemy now"
