One way I have found to mourn someone is to set up a monthly sustaining donation to a mutual aid effort they cared about. If you can join me in honoring Alice Wong, @sfdirewolf.bsky.social with a sustaining donation today, please do. Thank you Alice, and I will not let the bastards grind me down.

Trump has a fuck ton of fault when it comes to Covid, but it annoys me when folks don't have the same energy for Biden and his "covid is over" bullshit.
so much talk about trump in the comments when this price tag is courtesy of joseph robinette biden
Paxlovid from Pfizer costs $15 to make and now retails for $1500.

With SNAP/EBT cuts looming I highly recommend downloading this app! Basically restaurants and other food businesses will have available bags of random food they don’t wanna waste for ppl to buy for hella cheap! This has saved me sooooo many times when I only have $5 and need some food.

PSA: Covid cases can be infectious for over a week. A friend with Covid is still testing highly positive on rapid tests after 8 days.

If your rapid test is positive you are still infectious. Stay home, mask up, ventilate indoor spaces so you don’t spread it to others.

Disabled people have always faced much higher rates of state violence and police brutality, yet very few political movements actively include us.
ICE once again attacking the most vulnerable.

They sent an entire squad of agents to arrest a disabled blind man named Quinn Haberl.

They took his cane and dragged him off by his feet.

His head was perilously close to the pavement.

If nothing else, going against the grain to do what you need to to protect yourself is good practice for all the other ways we will need to refuse the status quo going forward.

"We keep us safe" has to mean something at the most basic level of public health to mean anything. Put the mask back on 😷🖤

The studies are already out, peer-reviewed ones by reputable epidemiologist and scientists, even a recent mainstream article which refers to it, not inaptly, as Airborne AIDS. "You have to live your life" has become a thought terminating cliche which gets otherwise wise folks to ignore reason.

Y'all, we effectively have no CDC, no public health, no health care, no *anything* at a high level that would tell us the truth about how damaging this is. A lot of y'all don't trust the government in general, but you just listened when they said ehhhh don't worry about it. It's wild to see tbh

In the 1970s there was something new going around that when they contracted it made most people just feel like they were a little under the weather, but they were fine otherwise and since no one knew what it was folks just went about their business.

10 years later, we know how that turned out.

We're going to talk about c19 today and I'm going to ask you all in advance to not zone out like you do when we're talking about it in person😑

Covid not "a cold" - it attacks every system of the body, making it weaker to every other kind of infection. There's another illness that does similar.

It’s comforting to know that there are more people out here that are masking than I originally thought.

I lost one of my best friends to Long COVID, so I don’t play about that.

At all.

I’ve been masking at all times in public spaces since 2020 and it’s really not that difficult at all you just put the mask on and go tbh
yeah, i think a commitment to public health obligates you to get vaccinated and, when you are sick, do what you can to avoid spreading that to other people. the demand that one mask at all times in public spaces is, i think, unreasonable.

This is why we fund scientists to study things like oyster slobber even if you don’t think it sounds important
⚠️ Chinese researchers have invented bone glue that mimics how oysters stick to surfaces underwater.

The adhesive can reportedly repair orthopedic fractures in 2-3 minutes, even in blood-rich environments, and is bioabsorbable.
