Really I just don't understand the constant switchup. Do you want this to a public place or do you want it private? Private likes pissed a lot of people off because "what if they're hiding bad things" but you could argue the same about blocks and apparently quote detaching. Very weird.

Most soulslikes miss the mark in that they aren't designed to make you feel like the designers are making fun of you. In DS2 there is a ladder in NotBlightTown where if you go down it there is a suicide bomber enemy made to knock you off if you don't see him and light the sconce instantly.
soulslike is one of those genres where I don't think anyone's ever managed to make one that really hits the same notes as the game it's based on. people have tried. but the From games are the only ones that do it
