#OnThisDay in 1935 the heroic Welsh journalist Gareth Jones was murdered just a day before his 30th birthday. He exposed the atrocities of the Holodomor famine in the #Ukraine. How we could do with journalists like him today! A piece I wrote a while back: nation.cymru/culture/hitl...

Found a fake record on Ancestry (AI strikes again?). It's based on an 1855 Scottish death register entry, but the "deceased" is actually one of the listed living children, and there seems to be a 'death record' for everyone mentioned on the original 😡 #genealogy #ScottishGenealogy #GenHour

"This feature has become very popular among people who have no imagination" is perhaps one of the best and most damning things you can say about people who use gen-AI to regurgitate artbarf as if it's anything other than digital particleboard.

In withering fairness to many of our modern ill-fitting technology pushers, they have an absolutely garbage knowledge of history, as it wasn't a subject they ever put any effort into, so there was nothing to forget, and no lessons learned to avoid. It's why crypto sped run scams from the 1800s.

We have been advising our volunteers about thus increase in Microsoft 365 Personal and Family Plans with no.optipn to opt out of AI Copilot add in together with additional monthly charges if you use Copilot more than a certain amount!
Happy "Microsoft trying to force CoPilot subs" day in the UK for all who celebrate.

(They just pinged me my renewal notice with it carefully worded to sound like a compulsory general price increase).

1) Go to your account page
2) Hit cancel
3) Change sub back.
