Another extraordinarily stupid & gratuitously nasty policy from Labour, sold under the entirely false pretence that it will promote "integration". Who do they think they're kidding with this nonsense?

🚨Let's treat childcare like infrastructure.

In a new report written with the brilliant Mandu Reid, I am calling for Universal Free Childcare to be moved forward as serious policy.

This is a big vision and I hope others will come to share it.

An hour later and it is still "Age 0", "Age 0", "Age 0" ...
Age 0

A reading of all the names of children murdered in the Gaza genocide has begun in Nottingham.

It started shortly after 7am and the names are in age order.

Over half-an-hour later and it's still "<name> Age 0".

The event goes on until midnight. I doubt the age will reach double figures.

As long as people are stuck in car dependency without good public transport, those who should not be behind a wheel will be forced to resist rules to restrict them.

Ending road death MUST mean green transport ££ and lower speeds, car sizes and traffic, not just action on drivers.

He puts in a great effort, but with age comes balance! Even with all the right moves, things didn’t go quite to plan as Zigi attempted to mount his ‘big brother’ Lenny.

An announcement on a UK and USA trade deal is expected today.

While the UK Government has said it will stick to its red lines on food safety standards - hormone beef and chlorine washed chicken - we are concerned that animal welfare standards could still be undermined.

As a German I will forever be grateful to all who fought for the liberation of Europe.

But as a historian I am looking at front pages today and must wonder: What is the point of remembering #VEDay 80 years on, what is the point of our thanks, when we are failing to protect the sacrifices made? 🧵
