The UK Government will be consulting on legislation to reduce suffering at slaughter for fish.

77 million fish are farmed and slaughtered in the UK every year, but despite this, there are currently very few legal protections for these sentient animals.

The Government's Animal Welfare Strategy includes a commitment to support voluntary efforts to move away from the use of fast-growing meat chicken
breeds.

While we ultimately want to see more than voluntary progress, this is a welcome step. We will continue our work to improve chicken welfare.

The Italian Government will end the culling of day-old male chicks by the end of 2026!

Hatcheries will soon be required to use in-ovo sexing that can detect the sex of an embryo before it hatches, instead of cruel culling.

Great work from our friends at Animal Equality Italia. 👏
