Yesterday I woke to learn that white christian presidential candidate Don Trump had blown his mic stand.

It reminded me of a famous Christian thinker named Jesus H. Christ. You may have heard about him; people often say his name when they see such things.

Don't vote as if your life depended on it (though it does).

Vote because other people's lives depend on it.

Learned an important language lesson from a drunk fan at Detroit City FC's quarterfinal match: It's near impossible to say "Google Calendar" after several beers.

To stave off early Christmas, we need a more robust Thanksgiving mythology. And I don’t mean Pilgrims and Indians bullshit. I’m talking about, like, a gravy witch.

Cis men, and yes. My whole life has been shaped by the understanding that I got to control if and when I have children.

Dobbs was like stepping through the looking glass and seeing all the many different and much worse ways my life could have unfolded without my consent.
A lot of men misunderstand the importance of abortion as an issue for women because they think of it as specifically being about abortion and not about healthcare and bodily autonomy as well. There’s just no equivalent for men and that lack of reference point means they’ll never get it.

It never matters. None of it ever matters. They hated Clinton for not going to Vietnam and hated Gore and Kerry for going.
During the W years I had Republican family members get so angry with me when I criticized the Iraq War. Some singled out Dick Cheney as a singularly honorable man. Now many of these family members are Trump voters who supposedly oppose foreign wars and despise the politicians who promote them. 🤷🏼‍♂️

Elon posted his MAGA hat which uses the Fraktur font, popular in nazi Germany. He wore this at a rally meant to evoke the 1939 nazi rally at Madison Square Garden.

He's telling you who he is.

Refusing to pick a side when one of the sides is fascism is picking the fascist side.

It's not brave. It's not moral. It's just surrendering in advance.

There was a story that went around this week about movie studios' woes with "superfans."

A "superfan" is somebody who has attached their whole personality to hating an intellectual property they loved in their youth.

"On the matter of Marcellus Williams, the Supreme Court broke, as it usually does, along the lines of judges who have and judges who have not been bribed by theocratic billionaires, with the bribed majority siding with state murder, as they very reliably do."

This is a fantastic book and you should read it.

I wish I’d had it when I was in 6th grade and was given 4 months of detention for refusing to stand for the pledge or say “under god” because I idolized the ACLU like most kids idolize Batman.

Also it was a mistake to send me to a Christian school.
Your reminder that “under God” was only added to the Pledge in 1954, as the culmination of a corporate campaign against the New Deal.

I might have written a book about it:
