In the weeks before last week's school board election, I was spammed by texts froma dark-money group that wanted me to be afraid for high school girls sharing bathrooms with trans kids.

At least my town overwhelmingly rejected that argument.
My daughter is 15, a child with a baby face whom I won’t even put in an Uber by herself. Just utterly disgusting from the same people who have spent years demonizing trans people as predators for daring even to exist. What are we even doing right now?

I've never done 8 or 9, because I was never that kind of rebel (being on the math team as a girl was rebellion enough), and I just used my boom box in my dorm room (no swagger; see reponse to 8).
I have never done (9) (it's anti-social), (13) (Blockbuster never operated in my country), or (20) (those things were *expensive*).

I am teh oldz.

The bathymetry of eastern Lake Superior, the part that would be crossed by an ore carrier coming from the NW, trying to make Whitefish Bay in a storm, is fascinating. I have heard those N-S troughs explained as subglacially eroded tunnel channels, but there are probably other ideas out there.

Copper usage by the indigenous peoples from the Great Lakes region of North America has been radiometrically dated to as far back as 7500 BC

Indigenous folks around the great lakes may have been some of the earliest people to mine copper in the world.

This is a plea to Massachusetts residents, particularly Cambridge residents and Harvard grads.

I've spend the last 3 years looking at old maps of western Jamaica while researching the history of absentee sugar planters who lived in Massachusetts while enslaving thousands of people in Jamaica.
#Jamaica needs our support more than ever right now and, never ones to shy away from self-reliance, they’ve set up an officially sanctioned website for recovery donations. The footage of Hurricane Melissa’s destruction in St. Elizabeth coming in from my family is HARROWING.
