this has been one of my hardest sells when i've been pulled on to a project for a mock review, consulting, and loc editor. because consumes don't care and continue to spend $$$ on titles w/ really messy loc, it's hard to convince the devs to invest in better loc overall. but i always fight for it.
i am so, so tired of the concept of a "perfectely serviceable" localization. we, as a society, should stop settling for "well, it's understandable so it's good enough" when the bar could be so, so much higher.

it's hard, HARD work and i would never discredit that, because i know how tough it is

Read it. Internalize it. We are going to win, come hell and high water. They know it, too, which is why they fear.
There are more of us than there are of them.

Discovering computer as an adult makes you go crazy. Discovering computer as a baby makes you go crazy. In all of human history, there will only ever be one generation to discover computer at the correct age: 13
The problem with every post-Millennial generation is they got to go straight to high speed internet. Of course you'll get computer madness that way. Make them start with those old screeching modems and work their way up

The lack of mainstream coverage of regular huge protests reminds me of a talk from a Twitter employees who explained that they had to drop BLM off the Trending Tags section because otherwise it would have been there permanently. The modern media environment has no appetite for sustained movements.

And Americans just accept it. All this money, all this wealth, and they accept grinding, day-to-day shit.

Just tapping the sign again, I guess:

He’s only writing that because the last time he wrote that morality was useless in engaging with what Israel was doing. So he has to frame it as they crossed some line that he created for himself, so this way he preserves his position as some kind of reasonable intellectual and not a useless dork

I've shared this before, but it bears repeating: I am a community college dropout who didn't sell his first novel or screenplay until I was 35.

Today I got my first Emmy nomination at the age of 49.

Still thinking about how the recurring theme of Superman is "knowing injustice is happening and choosing to ignore it is as actively harmful to your soul as actively collaborating", which of course ties directly into the very clear analogy Gunn is making about certain geopolitical events.

He uses violence when necessary to *stop* violence, cruelty, and injustice, but steadfastly tries to avoid killing.

He sees his power as a tool for helping people and not for enforcing his will upon those weaker than him, but will shut down a tyrant, damn the law.

Superman fucking rocks.

I think if you grabbed any famous thinker from centuries ago and showed them Wikipedia and told them it was free for anyone to access, they would say it is humanity's crowning achievement and would be indifferent to the moon landings, modern medicine, flight, or anything else you showed them
