It's not a foolproof plan but every political debate from now on should be a Normal Guy competition. Ask them to describe grocery shopping in detail. Talk about what it's like to have a friend

CNN: Was the shutdown worth it?

HAKEEM JEFFRIES: We have waged a battle on behalf of the American people.

CNN: But you didn't get what you want.

JEFFRIES: At the end of the day, the fight lives on.

BREAKING: We won!

Today the 3rd Circuit Court ordered the @post-gazette.com to restore our contract it illegally tore up 5 years ago. That’s our health care, PTO, right to a 40-hr. work week, short-term disability and so much more we’ve struck for 3+ years.

Altman has been quite clear about his strategy.

From the 2008 crash he learned that if you bind enough of the economy to your business you can do whatever you like; government will decide the rules no longer apply.

What he's selling is unaccountabilty.
I honestly don’t get the value of this company. They hoover up energy and water. Their product constantly gets things wrong and, in extreme cases, coaches people into suicide.

And it’s all built on what seems to be malicious and vast intellectual property theft.

What does OpenAI offer the world?
“authors & publishers who filed a lawsuit against the Sam Altman-led firm have secured access to internal Slack messages… discussing the mass deletion of a pirated books dataset… A NY district court ordered OpenAI to hand over the communications regarding data deletion”

How about we shut down the government for this very popular and specific goal and then, hear me out, we hold out for like a month and a half and then, ok this part is important, after a watershed election where we ran the table, ONLY THEN, fold and don't get the one thing we said we wanted.

Lots of folks from Pittsburgh/Braddock told folks that Fetterman was NOT a progressive and almost without exception no one wanted to listen because they loved his (fake cosplay) appearance as a white working class savior.
i think an especially depressing part of this whole saga is that "we need to win primaries so establishment dems are replaced by true progressives" is a thing we've done before but one of the progressives we worked hard to install over the establishment pick was fetterman

Hey Pennsylvania voters (and Pittsburghers): did you try and contact Senator Fetterman's office yesterday only to find out you couldn't leave a voicemail?

I'm interested in talking to his constituents for the news today.

You don't give a shit about people's lives
The average SNAP benefit per month is $177 a person.

The average ACA benefit per month is up to $550 a person.

People want us to hold the line for a reason. This is not a matter of appealing to a base. It’s about people’s lives.

And working people want leaders whose word means something to them.

Even more true today: Democrats are ripe for a base revolt like the GOP in 2015 when Trump went down the escalator.

Millions took to the streets a few weeks ago to put 0% pressure on The Democratic Party for enabling the current state of our country. Who could have ever seen this outcome coming?

Stagflation

The Fed Chair is describing stagflation but does not want to say the word.
Powell: "In the near term, risks to inflation are tilted to the upside, and risks to employment to the downside -- a challenging situation. There is no risk-free path for policy as we navigate this tension between our employment and inflation goals."

Let me be very clear. It is not enough that RFK Jr. was forced to admit today that no causal relationship between Tylenol and autism has been shown.

We know that while disinformation spreads like wildfire on social media, corrections most often die on the vine.

Again, we're just recycling 1984, 1994, 2004, and 2014 arguments. They know people on SNAP have jobs, they don't care.

"Should they starve to death?" Yes! That is literally what Republicans believe! They believe anyone who didn't get their money the old fashioned way (from dad) should die!
To all those “Let them go without food for a month, maybe they’ll get a job” people: Most SNAP recipients have jobs. Exploitative jobs that keep them living just below the poverty line. — Should they starve to death? And then what?

Chatbots — LLMs — do not know facts and are not designed to be able to accurately answer factual questions. They are designed to find and mimic patterns of words, probabilistically. When they’re “right” it’s because correct things are often written down, so those patterns are frequent. That’s all.

Anybody else get the vibe that Pittsburgh has really turned a corner post-pandemic? There are cranes everywhere, and I'm constantly hearing about people moving from NYC. There's even new housing in the Hill and Homewood. The vibe shift is palpable.

If you're a writer/other creator in the United States, consider creating an LLC for your business and then signing up for a local area Chamber of Commerce. Many of them have health insurance plans that pool their members and members of other CoCs to create insurance efficiencies relative to ACA.
