"The images in 'Keep an Eye on the Figs' celebrate abundance. Shelves of multi-colored soda bottles shine like jewels. A crowded lineup of sausages from every corner of Eastern Europe feels tender & alive. A produce fridge teems with lush, green bok choy….."

Until 2008 I worked for a president of a huge non-profit whose staff would print out emails for her, she'd scribble something on them in red pen, and then we'd have to go back to her staff to try to understand what she was trying to say because no one could read them.
Every office has an executive tier whose emails are like:

saw on news , , can we replce complianc dept with web 3

and a worker tier whose emails are like:

Dear Jim,
First of all, I *love* this idea! Unfortunately, I spoke with Legal and identified a few issues with this approach. For starters…
Well, it's a little clearer now why billionaires are so invested in technology that produces better written emails.

My new 2026 Monster Vacation calendar uses original photos taken by my dad, Bob Buchholz, as the backdrop for a retro trip through America? And yes, that’s one of his original 35mm cameras! Here's a thread of some of my favorite before and afters /

The way the unionized Pittsburgh Post Gazette workers held out for THREE YEARS until they got what they deserved is exactly what organized resistance should be.

BREAKING: We won!

Today the 3rd Circuit Court ordered the @post-gazette.com to restore our contract it illegally tore up 5 years ago. That’s our health care, PTO, right to a 40-hr. work week, short-term disability and so much more we’ve struck for 3+ years.

i simply refuse to be party to repeated attempts to launder fetterman's reputation and past by virtue of his stroke. he is who he has always been and if you all respected poor and black people in rural communities, maybe you wouldn't have to work this hard.

a few months ago I said "having generative AI handle absolutely anything with regards to healthcare is a nightmare and should be banned" and a bunch of people made fun of me and called me stupid. anyways,

Lots of folks from Pittsburgh/Braddock told folks that Fetterman was NOT a progressive and almost without exception no one wanted to listen because they loved his (fake cosplay) appearance as a white working class savior.
i think an especially depressing part of this whole saga is that "we need to win primaries so establishment dems are replaced by true progressives" is a thing we've done before but one of the progressives we worked hard to install over the establishment pick was fetterman

Sleater Kinney definitely needs to make a t-shirt with that band logo
Ratso the puppet interviews Sleater-Kinney for Chic-A-Go-Go, from July 2000. Carrie and Janet (aka "Mitzi") show off their juggling skills. Talk of favorite foods, their new album, and how many Grammys the band would win if Ratso joined.

Bring criminal charges against the heads of all AI companies. At best they were woefully, incalculably negligent; at worst they were knowingly complicit in suicides, and god knows what else.
1.This is not the only known example we know of ChatGPT cheering on a vulnerable young person to die by suicide, this time it is a recent Texas A&M grad
2. Every single university that has invited OpenAI into our midst should be asked to account for their choices.

Spanberger’s GOP foe spent 57% of her ad budget on anti-trans attacks. Spanberger focused on the economy. You see what won. trib.al/fkMmsR4

The simple truth told time and time again in the polls: The public doesn’t care about trans issues. Voters care deeply about the economy, inflation, & prices.

Stop sharing AI slop.

It's one thing if you don't know or just made a mistake. No need to breathe down someones neck b/c its harder to tell nowadays.

But if you do know (ESPECIALLY IF YOU DO KNOW) even if you're posting it to make fun of it or sharing it unironically... consider not doing that.

basically every 2024 truism is dead. Trump did not build a lasting multiracial coalition or turn young men into committed Republicans. You don’t need to cave on trans rights to win. The pundits have nothing left to tell you.

Zohran showed up for trans people this cycle. Not just literally showing up on TDOV, but making videos about our history, acknowledging the work that's still to do, and vocalizing actual support and policies to protect us.
This needs more attention: Zohran SPLIT the straights with Cuomo. ALL of his margin was from LGBTQ+ voters. Every Dem who ever said “we should abandon the transes” needs this shoved down their fucking throat with a ramrod.

I am taking particular pleasure in the complete collapse of trans-as-unbeatable-wedge-issue narrative this morning. It might be an 80-20 issue in voters minds, but it has to be on voters minds to matter. The results in VA demonstrate that it is very much not on voters minds.
