Give a man a fish and someone with a thousand fishes is going to bitch about people getting free handouts. Teach a man to fish? Yeah, that person with a thousand fishes is going to bitch about that too.

The best thing I’ve seen on the Internet in years
Hillel: put your right foot in
Gentile: done
Hillel: now take it out
Gentile: ...ok
Hillel: put your other foot in, shake it all about
Gentile: wait what?
Hillel: what is hateful to you do not do to another
Hillel: that's what it's all about

Let's talk about books and the public trust.

📚🧵

Something that is easy to forget, in these days of barcode-scanning / auto-adjust pricing on third-party platforms for pennies plus shipping:

We'll get into the original 'The Running Man" based on Stephen King's novel, starring Arnold Schwarzenegger, considered by many to be one of the more prophetic pieces of sci-fi produced in the 1980s.

I watched The Running Man starring Arnold Schwarzenegger last night. 1987 I think. Opens with ICE like security force being told to open fire on a “food riot” of unarmed people peacefully protesting because they have no food.
Trump says he needs to hold on to the contingency funds used to feed people because he needs to “stay liquid” in case he needs the money for something more important.

Without spoilers, Gizmodo rounded up seven fundamental differences between the two films.   The arena. Schwarzenegger runs for his life in a purpose-built underground complex spanning 400 city blocks, while his successor, Glen Powell, can roam the entire world, with the catch that anyone beyond the assigned killers can also take him out. The villains. In the 1987 version, juiced-up pro wrestlers chase the hero. In the new take, the hunters resemble special-ops commandos… Read more...
