Wow:
In the century leading up to 1975, nearly 6000 freighters went down in the Great Lakes.

The Edmund Fitzgerald was the last.

The last. In 50 years, not a single commercial freighter has been lost in the Great Lakes.

Why?

It's NOAA. Of course it's NOAA.

Three joys from my childhood and I didn’t even know who made them. Thank you Mr Meyer.
Burt Meyer, a Chicago toy designer behind classics like Lite-Brite, Mouse Trap, and Rock ’Em Sock ’Em Robots, died Oct. 30 at 99, leaving a joyful, generations-spanning legacy.

This is absolutely true. I hate that the fitness industry thinks that self-reliance and discipline are right wing traits. We need a healthy culture of fitness - one that understands that helping people, and accepting help aren't signs of weakness. Let's made both our bodies and our culture healthy.
Strength training is political. We have a right-wing which has taken over physical fitness spaces, and hijacked “warrior culture”.

We need a muscular progressivist visions. We need to be strong to build the world we want.

In Austin, TX and in the mood to go out into the world and see some art? This is the best time of the year to do it! The revamped Austin Studio Tour happens this weekend and next. Art Hub ATX is a single venue with over 100 studios and almost 150 artists just South of the river. I'm Studio A14 there

I am beyond thrilled by the election results this week. But mark my words, they learn. They learned from the first term and they learned from their losses. There will be no free and fair election next year because they will not lose. Natl guard, ice and locals preparing for the troops.

At this point, anyone—a university, a law firm, a corporation, a Democrat—bending the knee to Trump is doing it because they want to, not because of any political reality.

Happy birthday, @pbs, and thank you for (just off the top of my head) Mister Rogers, Bob Ross, Sesame Street, Cosmos, Reading Rainbow, Nova, Frontline, The American Experience, The Magic School Bus, and Nature.

The good you put into this world, and the return on my investment, is astronomical.

Loudly saying you won't vote for Newsom now is the perfect time to do it. October 29th, 2028 not so much.

Don't vote for Gavin Newsom btw. He is a virulent anti trans bigot who is cruel to homeless people, has the vibe of Patrick Bateman, and he married Kimberly Guilfoyle on purpose.

No!! No!
A lot of people have somehow decided that this is a conversation about trans people not wanting to vote for an anti-trans bigot like Gavin Newsom and it absolutely is not.

He doesn't deserve their votes and they'd be right to hold them back. But I wouldn't expect that to change his mind.
