The same goes for the common saying that "Washington is broken."

DC isn't broken - not one of these people came from DC and neither did the people causing problems now. Folks out in the so-called "heartland" sent them here.

Stop blaming us for the mess y'all keep making.
Newt Gingrich: Resigned in shame.
Dennis Hastert: Child molester.
John Boehner: Chased out by Freedom Caucus.
Paul Ryan: Quit in disgust.
Kevin McCarthy: Forced out by Freedom Caucus.
Mike Johnson: Spineless “Christian.”

American politics isn’t broken, just the GOP.

If you’re complaining about Minority Speaker Hakeem Jeffries, shut up. I’ve lost all tolerance for those demanding shit be fixed that are only broken because enough of us didn’t show up Nov 5 and then screaming “Do something” to a man who is doing everything he possibly can.
Just Shut. Up.

Some of the same people who just days ago insisted the Dems ain't
s**t because they don't fight hard enough, are now flooding social media trying to convince us there's no point in fighting because the game is rigged and the battle is lost.

These are not credible people. Don't listen to them.

We knew this was likely to pass, so I'm not surprised, discouraged, or defeated.

Now it's time to pivot and actually make the AP's description of a "defining moment of his second term" - and the terms of every single Republican who voted for it - a reality.

Vote them out in 2026!

Let's DO this!
July 3, 2025 at 6:51 PM
And these are these same people who constantly attack Democrats, and when it's pointed out that they don't have the numbers to do much, insist "They should be speaking up!"

But when they DO speak up, they dismiss it as "just words."

It's clear they're only interested in attack Dems, nothing else.
Thank you! 🙌🏾

Some folks are so entitled, they didn't realize that rights are something you ALWAYS have to fight for, even after you've won.

Y'all should have listened to Black folks. We already know this, and we told you. Maybe next time.....LISTEN.

I'm fascinated by how quickly the "Speak LOUDER!" "Slow things down!" crowd is dismissing Leader Jeffries doing just that as "empty talk."

I'm starting to think they don't really want the Dems to do any of the things they're demanding, but just want to trash them and will no matter what they do.

I'm sure it wasn't accidental that the Minority Leader ended his record-breaking floor speech surrounded by Black women
Hakeem Jeffries speech which began 4:35AM ET has now surpassed Kevin McCarthy’s speech for longest floor speech

Not Alligator Alcatraz. Alcatraz held people who had been convicted in a court of law.

This is Alligator Auschwitz, which will hold people who are not charged with anything other than the crime of being brown, just like Auschwitz held those for the crime of being a Jew.

Conservative protests are always treated as an organic cry of anger that manifests the distress of the unjustly ignored American heartland; protests from the center-left are always written off as noise from inside the bubble.
The Tea Party protests in April 2009 had about a third of a million people involved, and the political media treated it like a game changer for the Obama presidency.

The No Kings rallies were AT LEAST ten times bigger than the Tea Party protests. Will the press keep pretending Trump is popular?
Based on crowd-sourced records of No Kings Day event turnout, and extrapolating for the cities where we don't have data yet, it looks like roughly 4-6 million people protested Trump across the U.S. yesterday. That's nearly 2% of the U.S. pop!

Mobilized anti-Trump resistance is exceeding 2017 levels

Really, @nytimes.com?

He wasn't celebrating the Army's founding, and peaceful protests aren't a "show of force."

Do better.

So this is after the Speaker of the House said the Governor of California should be tarred and feathered, slightly disagreeing with the President and his Border Czar who wanted to arrest him, two months after somebody tried to burn the Governor of Pennsylvania and his family alive in their home.

I wonder if Gavin Newsom is figuring out that, beside it just being the right thing to do, standing up to the MAGAs earns a lot more political capital than pretending to be just like them ...
Gov. Newsom has been delivering a master class after the big win the court today striking down Trump’s nationalizing & deploying of the National Guard in Los Angeles. Brilliant.
June 13, 2025 at 1:57 AM
I'm pretty sure that if a court rules 47 lacks legal authority to do something, he can't hide behind immunity since that protects only official acts - and an action that exceeds his authority is not an official act.

And the NG isn't immune from prosecution for obeying an illegal order.

Sooo ...
BREAKING: Judge issues a temporary ruling against Trump using the National Guard in LA

“The order requires Trump to return control of the National Guard to California Gov. Gavin Newsom by noon Friday (Pacific Time).”

The White House could appeal the injunction issued by the judge but the decision in a federal court is a setback for President Trump.

You want to know why Thompson, Tapper, et al. spend their days hassling Dems? Because Dems *care*. Dems react. Dems make them feel like they have agenda-setting power. Dems beg & scrape for their approval.

Republicans don't give a shit. Writing about GOP crimes doesn't bring the same ego boost.
NPR published a story 5 days ago about three high ranking Trump officials with clear ties to Hitler-admiring antisemites and it barely made a ripple. These are the kind of stories that used to end political careers. Now the subjects of the stories just hold up a middle finger and keep plowing ahead.
I talked to NPR about seeing DHS White House liaison Paul Ingrassia at a Nick Fuentes rally last year.
