I want to live in a world where even if there's a "cause" of autism found, the answer would be "so?" But we don't live in that world, and that includes people on all parts of the political spectrum.

Seeing this administration push tens of millions of dollars into autism research while the folks providing job and skills training or direct care are barely paid minimum wage is infuriating. What if instead of trying to "cure" autism, we just supported autistic people?
I want to live in a world where even if there's a "cause" of autism found, the answer would be "so?" But we don't live in that world, and that includes people on all parts of the political spectrum.

I've spent the last decade writing about autism and saying politicians should stop talking about vaccines. When my book came out, it felt like politics was moving there. But I feel like my life's work has been completely erased by RFK Jr., Trump and Bill Cassidy. I feel completely disoriented.

And on another subject I wish the facebook pages for businesses did not require a login to the entire timeline if at all. Deleting my account was necessary but I do wish I could view the pages of some local places to see their news items and things. Things they don't post elsewhere.

Man I was so close to possibly having an audiologist who knows ASL .... only to find out that she's not in my network for insurance. Lovely. WHY!? Another audiologist at the same practice is in network so why not? (I suspect the issues may be about how new this audiologist is to the practice).

A good counter point to victim blaming rhetoric is noting that the best cyclists in the world get hit by drivers. It's not about skill; it's about lack of infrastructure and dangerous drivers (yes, even in the Netherlands). This happened in broad daylight too.

Disability education should not be put into HHS because it's not a health issue, it's an education issue. The idea that disability = health is dehumanizing and, frankly, simply wrong.
