Finance bro (for my sins) who supports housing abundance, opposes car dependency, and likes sports…just not enough to put my teams in my profile description.

A team from the New York area winning a continental championship ought to be a rather big deal. It certainly would be if it happened on the men's side. Will it be for Gotham?
....Gotham are the inaugural Concacaf W Champions Cup winners!!! besting Tigres 1-0 in a crunchy finale.

Oh, actually as a New Jersey resident who delivers camera equipment to New York City for work, this is actually much worse for me. The ten dollars presented a bargain for not sitting in traffic for two hours. You and Trump just added an hour to my commute both ways. Pat yourself on the back.

Dante described a special place in hell for NYT headline writers, where they experience burning pain but there are no devils, no agents of torment, just weird ‘undercurrents’ like bad smells. Who is torturing them? No one in particular

This is good, but unless @nyc-dot.bsky.social gets serious about implementing bus lanes, a non-polluting bus stuck in traffic is only a marginal win.
Earlier this month, we announced the purchase of 265 new zero-emission buses that will operate on routes across the five boroughs. This purchase is made possible by congestion relief funding!

6-8 minute headways? In this economy?
Wow! Buses are getting people to work and school much quicker after the Congestion Relief Zone started!

This was like the horror movie villain who gets up one last time but is finally put on ice. Roll credits, baby.
Just in: New Jersey’s request for a TRO has been denied. Congestion pricing goes live in 27 hours and 36 minutes.

We’re less than 48 hours away from turning on the cameras and starting congestion pricing in NYC.

We've put together a statement to celebrate the many benefits this initiative will bring to NYC transit, public health, and the climate.

1. The conventional explanation for food deserts—that these places are too poor or too rural to generate enough spending on groceries, or too Black to overcome racist corporate redlining — fail to grapple with a key fact: food deserts didn’t used to exist. My new piece in The Atlantic.

They didn’t materialize around the country for no reason. Something happened.

I refuse to celebrate until the tolls are in hand. Hochul flipped once; what’s to stop her from doing it again on January 19th?
Transit agencies are in dire need of $$, and the federal government will offer none over the next few years.

It's all up to states and cities to avoid a downward spiral.

This is exactly the right move, and not a moment too soon.

Every housing proposal that turns into a decade-long fight over a shadow gives another electoral vote to Texas, and I'd submit that's a bad trade.

As Trump takes office, New York must not turn away or price out the Americans who want to live in a state that protects our basic rights and freedoms.

We need to build more homes, bring down the rent, and ensure New York is a place for everyone.
