271,000 people have lost their jobs and federal spending has ctually increased. So people get less services, while we added debt paying for private jets for Kristi Noem, bulletproof cars for Kash Patel. This is what the rust belt voters demanded.

Trump and Republicans are using their power to go after groups like the Southern Poverty Law Center, which combats white supremacy.

They are using the force of government to go after organizations they disagree with politically. That’s authoritarianism.

A friend & colleague of my father sent me this. When he started managing a box office 40+ years ago, he felt like he didn’t understand the entertainment business, so my dad made him this drawing, which he kept for his entire career, which eventually led to managing concert halls.

Every socialist idea begins with the same simple truth: humans flourish when we care for each other. Everything else (the theory, the policies, the struggle) is just logistics.

This is often how personalist regimes work -- dozens of guys close to the leader compete for power and influence, backstabbing and out-maneuvering each other for the leader's attention/ignorance.
The crazy thing about Trump II is that we really have no idea who is drafting the war plans or the peace plans, or even how much Trump is in the loop on either.

i'd say it did. the public put a group of thieves, vandals and extremists in office last november and they promptly went about destroying everything that might work to limit their ability to loot, steal and inflicting pain on the people they hate
This whole NYT account about the weaponization of DOJ is beyond disturbing. Kinda feels like the US government fell in January.

The Epstein story gets a something that is tearing at the heart of the electorate: elite impunity. The idea that wealthy and powerful people can do terrible things *at scale* and face no consequences for them. Whatever political party actually stops it could rule the country for a generation.

We already know conclusively that abusing adult women doesn’t violate our norms. We are well on our way to demonstrating just as conclusively that sexually abusing girls doesn’t violate our norms, either.
Social norms are unwritten rules backed by social sanctions. If child sexual abuse isn’t met with strong, collective consequences, we don’t have a social norm against it.
