I am absolutely not out here demanding toxic total optimism. I also hate that shit.
But I am also seeing a lot of quite literal “we’re all doomed to horrible deaths and if you don’t accept this you’re a naive idiot.”

Even expecting the number to be bad, I gasped at 40%. And this was 2021, when we knew Covid was airborne and had vaccines in the first quarter of the year. So many of these deaths were entirely preventable.

I spent 6 hrs in the 'Rapid' Assessment Unit at A&E.
X-ray shows pneumonia is still present. Cue more antibiotics & stronger painkillers.
The consultant also gave me an A1 bollocking for working over the last 8 weeks & ordered me to rest.
For once in my life, I'll have to do as I'm told 😳

Update:
Lurgy was a nasty chest infection = steroids and antibiotics.
Then, it was suspected pleurisy and/or pneumonia = more steroids and antibiotics.
The results of an x-ray from Monday confirm it is pneumonia = more steroids and antibiotics.
I'm in the 8th week & I still feel awful 😭

One thing we should all be conscious of here on Bluesky is that trans people were a key part of keeping this site alive when everyone else was afraid to lose clout. They are a big reason we have an alternative to Elon.
