Wonderful actor—his filmography reads like a film class. Just one stone-cold classic after another.

Now, remember to be civil and nice when discussing the rat-ass senate betrayal or we’ll get lectured about how Bluesky is an unwelcoming nest of radical leftists

When fried chicken recipes go “now rest the chicken for a few minutes, then fry again,” it’s like, I’m sorry but no. I have already fried the chicken. I understand that this would make it better, but there are limits.

I don’t think football players should pat the player who scores on the head so hard. That hurts.

At least three big movies this year, all set in the here and now, have stories assuming that home security cameras don’t exist. I don’t care about this as a plot hole, but it’s an interesting new screenwriting wrinkle—like the “why not use a cellphone” or “just call the cops” problems.

I know a lot of people are very excited to play my new game, Grand Theft Auto VI, but it's becoming a slightly bigger project than I first imagined! I just need a little more time to get in everything I planned so I appreciate your patience. I hope you like the final product!

(Founders of the leading literary award trying to come up with a name for it)

1: It's a thing we give… to a man…
2: Hm… The Man Award.
1: Yeah but let’s clarify it's for a book.
2: …Man's Book Prize.
3: Wait, what do you call a man who writes a book?
1 & 2: Oh!

(All together) MAN BOOKER PRIZE!

It's the anniversary of John Berger's bday.
His essay Ways of Seeing, a companion for the TV series, won the Booker Prize.

The show is engaging, intelligent, and a great entry point art history/criticism.

I am now on my third pair of wireless earbuds in five years due to juiced batteries. Given the cost of these, that’s unacceptable. Somebody make them with a replaceable battery, somehow. Maybe the battery goes in a hat or something, the propellerheads can figure it out.

This week we’re dealing with a rat who has moved into our kitchen and also I’m reading Dracula. There’s a surprising number of similarities between these two narratives.
