AI thrives on processing gigantic datasets to look for layers of patterns and connections. It's capable of fantastic things for drug discovery and cancer research, and yet the whole field is being bamboozled over "make pictures naked" slop
Yes. I just meant that analytic AI can find cancer cells and we're ignoring it because tech bros are all in on generative, and when we respond, it's usually with blanket statements.

AI bones are inherently brittle, and anything built on them will rot.
“Oh I only used AI for placeholders or idea starters” does not make it better! If you are using it for any part of the creative process then you’re no longer doing the process!
"placeholder text" "concept art" either the temporary thing you put in matters to the process, in which case you need to get a human to work on it, or it doesn't, in which case you can just as easily put a bright pink rectangle that says PLACEHOLDER in and save everyone time and effort

We really need to double down on outwardly stating our work does not contain AI.
We're seeing it in movie credits and books, we have to start putting it on things we make and pressuring others to label their work as human made, and normalize that as much as we can, I think.

They're using the confinement box, one of the most horrific methods of CIA torture in the post-9/11 black sites, against migrants now. This is the direct result of the lack of consequences for the architects of the torture program. Either there will be criminal penalties for this or it will expand.
