The 2002 RTS game "Hooligans: Storm Over Europe" features a Pikachu toy in one of the FMV cutscenes with no attempt to hide it.
As there is no record of legal action against this game from Nintendo or The Pokémon Company. I have to assume that their lawyers are scared of football hooligan firms.

tbh as much as official rereleases are good for accessibility, I also feel like a lot of people just won't play games if they don't have official versions and that's not great for culture. Everyone should be downloading random ROMs until they find that special one that breaks their brain wide open.

TV Tropes is blocking access to the site not only if you have ad blockers on but location tracking off unless you want to subscribe to their $5 a month/$25 a year subscription plan.
