I had a thread on Twitter where I talked about how people who grew up post Lawrence, fundamentally do not understand how dangerous it was to be gay, the things you had to do to stay safe.
Lawrence v. Texas was in 2003. Up until then, gay sex was a crime.
In Idaho, it could get you a life sentence. In Michigan, 15 years in jail. In NY in 1950, 20 years.
Over decades, generations, state by state these sodomy laws were fought, successfully.
